For all the non discord uses, PLEASE READ

As the trade deadline fast approaches, and we have a trade horny bunch. I want to touch on a couple things heading into the fun day we are bound to have. I will be doing live updates as trades come in!

  • If you trade a player with a clause, please note it in the trade PM. This will be very helpful, and if we could all adopt this going forward for all trades that would be a great help
  • If you trade a player and need to make a roster move to be compliant, PLEASE post a "Pending trade announcement" then your roster move on the thread. If a trade puts you over roster limits, the trade will not be processed until this is done, meaning if you have a last min deal you risk not having a deal at all! Given there will not be 24 hours to be compliant after the deadline (unless you have room in the minors) I do not want to be that guy who ruins the day. You can also include your move in the trade PM so that way I at least know you are making the appropriate moves
  • Goes without saying, any moves made after 12PM PST deadline will not be accepted, so deals need to be in my inbox, with both teams accepting at 11:59AM
  • Also, please remember to include what year of pick you are trading (As I am finding this is being commonly forgotten), as well as full names and not just last names, again, just makes life easier.
  • Lastly a reminder that players claimed on waivers or signed after the deadline are ineligible for playoffs

Thank you all, love you all!

TOP 10 PLAYERS 25 & UNDER: THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS EDITION

Sitting dead last in the NHL the Vancouver Canucks are in shambles. Or are they?... Things may look bad now, but this team is on the verge of a quick turn around with the young talent they have. We may need a bigger list for this team!

#1 - F Jack Hughes (22)

After finishing last season just 1 point shy of 100pts, Jack started the 2023-24 season right where he left off. At one point it seemed as if he was the best player in the NHL. Then injuries took their toll. Even though he has missed a lot of games he's still averaging over a point per game, and is still looking to be the generational talent we all thought he would be. Vancouver is lucky to have such a young talent to build around as they try and capture their 1st ever Stanley Cup!

#2 - D Simon Nemec (20)

The former #2 overall pick is living up to his expectations. as a 20 year old rookie in the NHL he has put up 15pts in 35 games, and is showing fans he is the player they hoped he would be. He's one of the best prospects in the game, and he's a right handed Dman. Those are hard to come by, and Vancouver has 2 of the better RHD prospects in the game. Which leads us to our #3 guy on Vancouver.

#3 - D David Jiricek (20)

Even though things have started off a little rough for Jiricek as a rookie, there is no denying his talent. Jiricek is one of the best D prospects in the game, and Vancouver fans are going to love this guy. Having him and Nemec manning the right side of their top 4 is going to be a treat to watch. Can't wait for these guys to get going.

#4 - G Yaroslav Askarov (21)

Askarov is one of, if not the absolute best goalie prospects in all of hockey. He has been living up to the hype so far, and seems primed to start his NHL career as soon as next season. His biggest hurdle being Saros & the Preds. Once he breaks through that wall he is going to be Vancouvers #1 goalie for years to come. Binnington days might be over quicker than we imagined.

#5 - D Olen Zellweger (20)

We have already seen the 2 headed monster on the right side, but they also have a 2 headed monster on the left. Olen Zellweger is destined to be the Canucks go to offensive Dman for years to come. A true puck moving Defenseman that will likely be quarterbacking the PP1 for years to come.

#6 - G Carl Lindbom (20)

After being drafted in the 7th round by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2021 Carl has done nothing but make them proud. He has put up some godly numbers in the SHL, and the only thing that seems to have a chance of stopping him from having a long successful NHL career is his small 6'0 frame.. However he has the talent to overcome that. The sky is the limit with this kid.

#7 - D Mikhail Gulyayev (18)

Mikhail Gulyayev, or as GMG likes to call him, "The Russian Hughes" (referencing his similarities to Quinn Hughes), is the 2nd part of that 2 headed monster on the left side of this VERY deep core of Canuck prospects. Gulyayev has all the tools in the world to take the spot many see Zellweger holding for years to come. Will be interesting to see how that plays out over the years.

Olen Zellweger - Simon Nemec

Mikhail Gulyayev - David Jiricek

Now that's a scary looking top 4 assuming they all pan out!

#8 - F Jordan Dumais (19)

Undersized phenom Jordan Dumais will soon be moving across the country to Vancouver. Some think this kid has elite talent, some feel his size will hold him back. Will be someone to follow next season for sure. GMG isn't usually a fan of prospects coming out of the QMJHL, but he has a different feeling about this kid. Could be Jack's future winger.

#9 F Dylan Holloway (22)

Former 1st round pick of the Edmonton Oilers, Dylan has all the potential in the world, and has a very high chance of being 1 of McDavid and/or Draisitl's future winger. The piggy back points alone sky rocket this young man's value, and that's ignoring his obvious skill set. He has been lights out in the AHL level, but hasn't quite broken out of his shell in the big. He is a major breakout candidate going into the 2024-25 season for sure.

#10 - F David Goyette (19)

Averaging almost 2pts per game in the OHL, this former 2nd rounder is one of the Canucks more intriguing prospects. Will be interesting to see how well his game translates to the pro level. If things go well next year we may see him shoot up these rankings. Him being #9 on the list just goes to show you how deep this Canucks prospect pool is!

#8 - G Erik Portillo (23)

There's no denying the Canucks have done a great job building from the crease out. 7 of the top 8 prospects and all Dmen or goalies. Erik Portillo is a BIG BOY. standing at 6'6 he looks destined to be the Kings #1 for years to come. I could very well see him starting for them as soon as next year. Going to be interesting to see if he's still a GFL Canuck in a few years with all the goaltending talent they have in the system. He's a name to keep an eye on in the rumor mill over the next couple of weeks.

Trade deadline news announcement

Reminder to all teams, that players with NTC/NMC and are pending UFA's will consider deals to teams not on their lists. These teams will be up to the GM but pick the teams wisely

  • in order to exercise this option a deal will need to be in place and agreed too
  • Players will be less likely, to not at all interested in being traded to a team not in the playoffs, unless that player is not in a playoff position himself and sees more opportunities on another team
  • Player being asked to waive will want to make sure that their position on their new team is there. Ie. Trading Austin Matthews to a team where he would be their 3rd/4th center would be rejected by the player....team fit is important even if they are a pending UFA, especially if the team acquiring them tries to re-sign the player
  • should a team wish to exercise this option, the GM will need to make a pitch as to why their player should waive to go to the team they may be dealt to. This PM is to be sent to both player agents (Gator & Relyt). It may be required as well that the team acquiring the player may need to make a pitch as well, but an agent would reach out in that case.
  • GM's will not get more then two extra options of their choice beyond their current lists. So again choose wisely. This means if one trade falls through as the player rejects to move, the team can only try with one other team. If both are unsuccessful then they are left with just what's on their current lists

Any questions, reach out!
