higgyfan
47 minutes ago, Gawdzukes said: The definition of one dimensional. 23 goal scorer and a massive whole defensively. This guy is little better Rob Schremp, or Anthony Duclair. Here's a list of the goal scorers at and around him. Here is a list of goal scorers in his range. He is by far the most useless player besides the goals. Worst +/- besides Bjorkstrand, and Giroux. The guy just plays to score goals. Has zero concept of winning hockey in the NHL. The +/- stat is not that effective in determining a players' defensive game, unless you take into account, his role on the team, offensive performance, as well as his team's skill level. If you play on a bottom tier team, you are more likely to end up with a minus; on a top level team, you will likely have a plus. Anthony Duclair's stats are a good example; when he plays on the Panthers or Lightning, he's a plus, but with Sharks, he's a minus 12. A perfect example of how this stat requires more examination before pronouncing it as a valid tool in analyzing a player's defensive abilities is last year's Canucks. Millers stats: 81-32-50-82 (-7) Kuze's stats: 81-39-35-74 (+9) Nobody thinks that Kuze is a better defensive player than JT. He just happened to be playing on the only line that all 3 players had a plus stat, driven by EP's brilliant defensive moves.

Not hindsight for a few of us. Also not the biggest mistake ever, either. Just another x mark, and eventually, as with all management teams, the x marks will grow to a firing. Tis how it goes. Gurn
29 minutes ago, Captkirk888 said: Can you tell us why they would do that given his play and the team’s position at that time? I am seriously interested to know your view in detail. Kuze would likely have returned prospects and/or picks. That return, of low pay players would really have helped during the max OEL hit. Instead, they traded low cost players/picks to get rid of him. As I've said, not the bigggest mistake, but it does go on the list.
Popular Post Gawdzukes
Alright here we go lol 10 hours ago, AnotherCanucksFan said: Sounds like a lot of the Canuck's team since the All Star break. I think he just was appreciated more in Calgary. Why did / has Ilya Mikheyev get a pass and rarely is criticized while Kuzmenko was regular criticized or benched. Benching Kuzzy wasn't the way to go with a player like him. I've heard this a couple times and this whole since the All-star break comment is absolutely incorrect. It doesn't sound like the Canucks at all, that's just being dishonestly negative. The team is first in the division and top notch defensively. Kuzzy had opportunity after opportunity and simply couldn't get with the program. Mik got a pass because he was injured but still listens to the coach. He was also untradeable but was probably shopped around too. 10 hours ago, DeNiro said: Who would have wanted him? And what haul would they really give up? From what I remember it was very hard to move cap space especially on players with term. Teams also didn’t value him as a 39 goal scorer. His shooting percentage was way too high. Now he’s falling back down to what he actually is which’s is around a 25 goal scorer. Still good but not someone teams would have been clamouring for at 5.5 mil. Sure, in hindsight he could have been traded for more but our focus was on getting into the playoffs, not maximizing margins on found goods. Trading him wasn't really in the cards (until it had to be) for many reasons, like fan approval for one. I think we made the logical choice. It's useless complaining about asset management in this situation imo. Sometimes sh!t don't work out. 10 hours ago, DeNiro said: Stop making excuses for him. He didn’t take his offseason training seriously, was given every opportunity to succeed and didn’t. Tocchett’s not out there missing tap ins for him or constantly being out of position. This is the other thing. He behaved like a Gen X Boy Band Tic Toc sensation in the summer. The team I'm sure didn't realize how incapable he was of buying in and doing anything besides fancy goalscoring. Good riddance. My least favorite type of player. 10 hours ago, YourHuckleberry said: Also, who is trading a player that signed just a year prior and proceeded to score 40ish goals and become popular in the room and with the fans, without giving that player an opportunity to adapt under the new coach? Even if you thought there was a good chance the player couldn’t adapt, you would lose so much trust with your players and fans if you traded him last summer. If he adapts, he’s the player you want on the wing in top 6 that you would be hoping you’d get in any return, so why not just keep him and see how it goes? There was no mismanagement with Kuzmenko. He’s got the charisma and some skill, and I have a soft spot for him, but he will never be on a top team in this league unless he rounds out his skill set to be able to play reliably within a structure. Great post, Bravo! You nailed it here. The logic and optics weren't there to trade him. Unfortunately the situation just deteriorated. At the end of the day people can whine and complain about incidentals and lost value all they want. It's just the way things shook out while we were busy being tops in the league. I don't know how anyone can argue with that. Kuzmenko was not doing much of anything here. 9 hours ago, RomanPer said: It sounds like you have no clue. In which professional sport a coach of a team has to adapt to an individual player? It’s the other way around in 99.9% of the time (don’t tell me McDavid or LaBron - Kuzmenko is not in the same zip code). Lol, exactly. Top teams in the league don't build their whole program around one dimensional guys like Kuz. They gave him all the opportunity in the world. He couldn't meet the basic requirements. 1 hour ago, JayDangles said: He was a beast on the PK last game. Multiple times Lindholm muscled the ARZ players off the puck. He looked strong. Just needs a little luck and find someone he can build some chemistry with. Let's go boys! Yeah he looked very strong last game. I noticed that too. If that's a preview of the player we're getting for the playoffs color me stoked. He looked way more comfortable offensively and was driving play in that area. Very encouraging. -------- To summarize: We had some success with Kuz last year. We hoped to see him build on that. He came into the season completely out of shape and utterly unfocused in contrast with the other 22 players. Look at how Joshua received coaching instruction and likely earned millions because of it. Kuzmenko's play deteriorated to the point he became a $5.5 mil liability. He was traded for the top Center available. So far it's been a wash but we still have hockey to play, and likely a far more effective post-season player, while the Flames and Kuz are going golfing next week. We also dropped a much needed $5+ mil off next season's cap. Sorry for the derail folks I just had to reply. Now let's go kick some Oilers ass tonight. 1 2 1 2

A fantastic shooter! No more - No less! Well apparently Brock does enough in Tocchet system to justify him staying. That being said, it’s hard to score goals in the NHL. I would have preferred keeping Kuz and trading Mik instead. Pay a bit more in draft picks to make it happen.
