Dunno. I don't like the Leafs either but let's at least be real about things, he's generally pretty durable. 81, 82, and 82 regular season games the past three seasons. Don't see why he'd miss the playoffs for nothing. 

 

Nylander's generally one of the few Leafs who does consistently show up come playoff time.

Rielly looked like a lost puppy out there on that goal.  Toronto can't be happy to be on the hook for the rest of that contract of a guy who is simply incapable of playing like an NHLer in his own zone.

Pretty much impossible to make up for a guy who is that much of a liability.  He's worse than useless; he is actively hurting the team on a consistent basis and would likely get benched on a decent AHL team until he decided to at least try to learn how to play his position.

One team is clearly more prepared to play playoff level hockey from the drop of the puck into the post season.  And more willing and more able.  The Leafs really do suck.
