I also think Zadorov has been a huge influence on him this season to help reign in his chaos and be more precise.

Popular Post JamesB
I was nervous before this game started. It has been a long time since we have been in the playoffs and, while the Canucks are (slightly) better than Nashville on paper, the Predators are good. Those two quick goals in 12 seconds in the 3rd to take the lead were probably the highlight of the year so far for me. Great win. Here are my takeaways. 1. Obviously a big game for Joshua with 2 goals, an assist, +3, and 6 hits. 2. But his linemates (Lindholm and Garland) were also good. The Canucks acquired Lindholm primarily for the playoffs and he was good today. In addition to his goal he probably deserved an assist on Joshua's first goal. He was good on the dot (60%) and was credited with 5 hits! He also led the forwards in PK time and was good. That line also had the toughest minutes--shutting down the O'Reilly line. Suddenly I am feeling a lot better about that trade. 3. But the best Canuck line by the underlying stats and by the eye test was the Miller line (with Suter and Boeser). They led 19-6 in Corsi, 8-1 in scoring chances, and 5-0 in high danger chances. And Suter's goal (his deflection of Hughes' shot) was huge in terms of momentum. 4. The Canucks were the better team in the underlying stats, although it was close. The Canucks led in expected goals 2.69 to 2.36 even though Nashville had more powerplays (4-2). The Canucks deserved the win. 5. But the Pettersson line (Petey, Hoggy, Lafferty) did not have a good night in the stats, and putting Mik in place of Lafferty made things worse, not better. We will need more from Petey in this series. (And from Mik, who had the worst stats on the team.) 6. This game just emphasized why Hughes was a better pick for the Norris than Josi (assuming Hughes won, as the votes are now in). Josi is very good, but it is hard to say enough about Hughes. It was like he just willed the team to come back in the third. Also on D, loved Z's physical game, including his big hit in the third. 7. Demko. Going into this series I thought Demmer was the most important player. If he was healthy and sharp the Canucks would be hard to beat. I did not feel good about Demmer's start. He made some good saves, but both the first two goals were on shots he usually stops, although maybe there was boderline interference on the second one. But Demmer came back very strong in the 3rd period including a big save off his helmet. I am feeling good about Demmer right now. 8. Penalties. For a while I thought penalties would be the difference, and not in a good way, with Nashville ahead 2-1 going into the third based on a PP goal in an otherwise pretty even game. Fortunately the Canucks mounted a great comeback. But the Canucks have to tighten up the penalties. Canucks fans did not like the calls and the penalties were not flagrant. But they were callable penalties even if the referees sometimes let them go. (And they did let a Myers trip go when the Canucks were already down a man after PDG's penalty.) It is hard work but it is important to get your body in front of the guy you are checking instead of putting your stick in his skates. 9. Fans and Momentum. I was home watching on TV but it looked like the fans in the arena were a big part of the story. I could feel the vibes through the TV (and the white towels didn't hurt). I bet the fans were a big boost to the team. Nice to have home ice advantage. Great start! Edited April 22 by JamesB 10 4 2

He was dynamite in the faceoff circle, solid on the PK and got a goal. Suck it haterz! He also did the hit behind the net to free the puck for Garland to pass to Dakota This is a now a team, and if EP plays like he can and BB can use his weight to hit and get involved to back his teammates then look out ! Let's take it to another level

Popular Post hockeyville88
Some of the quotes from the players about how incredible the atmosphere was today is bringing tears to my eyes. We showed why we are one of the best hockey markets in the league and why we deserve success in this market. Proud of the boys for the effort today, and proud of the fans for showing up the way they did. Let’s keep it going! 4

Instead he’s one of our best playoff performers. There’s a reason I was a big supporter of this deal and told people to be patient his value will show. 6 3
