Popular Post stawns
30 minutes ago, Boudrias said: As the Canucks jet out of Nashville they can reflect on this series win with a degree of satisfaction. The vaunted structure that Rutherford and Allvin talked about prior to the Tocchet hire was on full display. Yes, Silvos came in and played very impressive goal but IMHO it was the d-core that won this series. That and the domination by the centers in the FO circle. Special kudo to Brock Boeser who was key to at least 2 wins. The Oilers: They will be a huge challenge for the Canucks as their game is very good. The big difference is their defense since Paul Coffey came in. Their TOI has been rebalanced and Coffey is activating their d-men much more. Hyman has been a gamer. I still question their goal tending as the improved play infront has shielded the net much better. The Canucks: Were the Preds any slower or less offensive than the Oilers over the past 2 months? Not really. The Oiler ability to grind has definitely improved but the Preds were very good at that game. Going into the next series IMHO the Canucks have a bit of a edge in Game 1 because their series was a tougher one than the Oilers had against LA. Canucks d-side game was top notch, their centers were very good and of course Silovs was excellent. Can Miller, Joshua and Zad bang up McDavid and gang enough to slow them down? I think so. Canucks take Game 1 and it will throw some doubt into the Oiler mantra. Canucks offense: Canucks offence was playing better than what the score board showed. If this offense can produce 3 goals a game it should be enough to win. The weapons are there even if a little rusty. Maybe a little oil will help. It isn't just Petey who is in a funk. The center ice FO% is starting to dominate. Canucks defense: This is the strength of this team. Both Meyers and Zad are playing like top 4 d-men. Yes, the Oilers will watch the Preds film and want to duplicate the physical play on Hughes. The d-side physical game can truly disrupt the Oilers. To be successful the Oiler PP has to score. If the Canucks can shut that down the frustration level for their team will amp up. Soucy and Cole as the 3rd pairing have done a nice job. Goaltending: It is Zilovs net until Demko is ready. The way he is playing it won't be a rush to bring Demmer back in. I was stunned last night when Zilovs gloved a screen shot off the point that was labeled for the corner. Lauzon I think. How he saw that shot is a real head scratcher. Skinner is playing a solid game but I still question how good he is. Injuries: Is Petey nursing an injury? I don't see it. He was hitting last night, taking shots and throwing passes. Hughes is the big ? He drives the offense on many nights. He took a lot of heavy hits. Tocchet has balance the TOI more which is a very good idea. Soucy's ice hasn't grown. Does he have a lingering problem? Canucks swept the series this year against Edmonton. Win Game 1 and keep home ice advantage. Go Canucks!!!! Again, staying out of the box and beating them 5v5 is going to be the key to this series.........the Oilers PP is other worldly right now. I think they can stifle McD and Drai at even strength and keep them frustrated. As far as Petey goes, he'll get a lot more time and space in this series I think. 1

Ant that's pretty hyperbolic, I doubt you'll see many more calls than normal We all know McWhiner Baby and the Coilers (who play in the ugliest city in the world and have the biggest losers for fans) will be given a lot of free power players that are not deserved. It’s the only way the league can manage to keep our great 109 point team from dispatching the Soilers in three games!

We were winning games at the same clip with guys like Beauvillier and Kuzmenko as we have with Zadorov and Lindholm. Hell, this forum had major buyer's remorse when Lindy was struggling (before injury). Don't underestimate what a completely new coaching staff can do to a team. Even scrubs like Nurse and Brown have been playing extremely disciplined hockey. The Oilers have been a top 5 team (or better) since December..........the Canucks are going to have to play much better in this series to win games, no doubt about that

I think they're kind of playing with house money now, with a series win under their belt. There was a lot of pressure on this group to get out of round 1 after the season they had and now that pressure is gone.

There were many times this round where Hughes and Petey got hit super late after getting rid of the puck. I think Mcdiver deserves the same treatment. They need to hit him every chance they get. Hughes was great an evading hits but he's only human. When refs let players hit him 5 strides after distributing the puck, there isn't a player that can avoid being hit. We need to compile a Hughes hits video and do the same thing to Mcdavid. It was pretty disgusting what the refs allowed this past round. 1

Biggest difference to me in this situation, however, was that these guys remained humble, while that WCE team got too cocky. Agreed 100%. They seemed to stay focused and realized that it wasn’t over yet.

Quit cherry picking if you discredit the preds with their last 10, you need to discredit the oilers in their last 10 of 4-4-2 feb-end of season preds 21/7/3 good for 3rd oilers 20/12/5 good for 12th van 17/12/4 good for 16th If anything this shows the canucks punched above Jan - end oilers 31/12/5 good for 2nd Van 27/13/6 good for 7th preds 27/14/4 good for 10th taking these numbers into account, the oilers have been trending down hard while the pred trended up you should really use stats when making bold claims even super simple stats like these ones provides more legitimacy to an argument Edited May 4 by Johnny 2

I was in the wheelchair section with a friend and at the end of the game the guy to our left went running behind all the seats waving his towel like a maniac. Whacked me in the eye but I took one for the team. A couple of awesome service dogs up there cheering the team on (yes, they were so). The place was crazy afterward...outside the arena a huge crowd was going nuts. I loved it! 2
NHL Tyranny
Anyone have a clip of the Boesser penalty? He seemed outraged but I don't recall the broadcaster showing it. Perhaps I had too much Scotch.
