Preseason is meaningless.

Calgary is simply trying to unify their roster after a dismal season and major internal strife. We are not in the same position. Folks need to keep in mind certain perspectives.

The focus should be on getting the new players aquitted to their new team. And get the the ones they know are going to make the cut. Surely the coaching staff knows full well the majority of tonite lineup won’t be here. For the start. After tonite experiment they should have seen enough. Now put the real team together and get on with it. This is exactly how last season started. This season has more new guys than last season. ?????  Apperantly they never learned from last year ???????

Uh? We don't want to unify our roster that has had many dismal seasons in a row and has an all star center who's going to wait and see how we do before re-signing? 😂

Jason Bateman Cotton GIF

We have a unified roster with one central player who will likely be re-signed by Xmas.

Calgary mgmt is attempting to prevent the continuation of a mass-exodus.
Why the funk else would they start an NHL club against a farm team? To try to re-establish camaraderie off the hop…the type of camaraderie that already exists on our roster.

On a very tiny bright side: Raty standing out for good reasons while kind of being quiet at young stars (where we pumped the flames) tracks with the scouting report on him as a player.

Tools, IQ and style are tailored for the pro game, not run around in a prospects game.  You love to see it.

And only 20 years old.

Not impressed with effort tonight, altho understanding that we've iced an AHL team of prospects against a far more veyeran and talented Lames squad. Was hoping for a better show from Silovs, but he was really shaky.

Ratu has been a standout, but disappointed in both Hoglander and Podzkolzin so far. I know it's just one game.....

People keep misquoting Rutherford. He said that if everything goes right, we make the playoffs, but he also clarified that not everything has to go right for us to make it.

JR was spot on.  I'm glad he's honest with us and not making up unrealistic expectations.

Canucks again looking softer than baby poo. And this is a Tocchet team? Embarrassing.

Exactly! Get in a friggin’ fight or slash a guy and break his arm. But do something to let the other club know you’re there. This is the biggest embarrassment ever. Fight for Christmas sake.

Hate to say it bud but those times are close to being gone.

My favorite hockey is filled with hits and fights.

Toughness still wins cups but regular season doesn’t matter that much but if you don’t show it regular season you won’t have it come playoff time.

Don’t agree with this. This team has accomplished basically 0 in the last ten years. They have a brutal schedule to start the season . A lot of new faces. The team.  There might be  two or three  excellent players on the roster that might have enough credit to skip games like this , but if I’m the coaching staff I’m getting as many of the A roster on the ice practicing against other teams before the season starts. They are not good enough to treat these games as a rehearsal for a mostly AHL squad.

Can't really blame the players. The coaching staff and management should know by now who's able to, or close to being able to at least, play with the big boys. Lots of these guys should be building team comraderie with our AHL club not getting absolutely demoralized here tonight.

If I’m a coach I’d rather see how potential NHL roster players acquit themselves (against an NHL caliber squad) without the support of said players.
If they can’t stand out amongst their peers on their own team in this capacity right now, then how can you verify their capability honestly and accurately without the benefit of factoring in the rub or bump from their  NHL level linemates potentially carrying them or upping their average so to speak.

Feet to the fire. See what you get.

again, that’s what preseason is for.
