Yah, real great game oilers I missed that too - fingers crossed for the most beautiful revenge reverse hit from Hoggy when him and Petey hit their mean streak next game. They came out hard this game and I think next game they break out even harder!
24K
Sutherland better not ref a single game for the rest of the playoffs. Our loss is not due to the refs but this game was just so badly officiated that those two should be out if the reffing union insist reffing in the playoffs is based on merit. 1
Darius
This is the slew foot im thinking of as one of the dirtier plays in the game. if your gonna call that Suter hit on McDavid in the corner how dont you call this with his leg kicking into him like that .

Popular Post Jaimito
Just another adversity to overcome Like in round 1, series tied 1-1 going on the road now. Nux play well on the road, esp Edmonton (this season and in the bubble). Oils star players played better. They knew they can't be down 0-2. Nux need to respond next game. 5-1 vs oils this season so far. Keep going until the 8th win. 5

Listen to the Edm and natl media. This was the most epic McDrai performance ever. This is their highest gear. And we still brought them to a coin flip in OT, with a first year AHL goaltender
Devron
Man, needed that win to put a stamp on this series but it is what it is. Gonna be 6 or 7 games for sure. Must win one in Edmonton. Refs sucked. Anyone disagree is just trolling Silovs played great. We weren’t aggressive enough in the third 1

There would be no coming back from that if they lost after 97/29 threw the kitchen sink at us. Edited May 11 by 24K

Overall we did not play well enough to win but the reffing had a massive impact on the game, and that really sucks. It just should not be the case, period. Such lop-sided officiating would be deflating. Certainly it would affect the teams focus. Like having one hand tied behind their back. Popular Post JamesB
Gut-wrenching loss. Here are my comments. 1. The game started great, with Petey scoring on a one-timer on the PP. Great for Petey, great for the PP, and great for the team. And Petey's line (with Mik and Hoggy) did well at 5-on-5, with a 6-2 scoring chance differential (although with relatively soft minutes). But I am getting tired of saying the Mikheyev needs to actually do something on offence. He is responsible defensively but it looks like he will never score again (despite a cap hit of 4.75 million). 2. I think Tocchet stayed with Silovs a game too long. The OT goal should not score. Cole deflected it in but that was after Silovs missed it. It was probably going wide but you want your goalie to swallow that shot. And, while the other goals were on good chances, and Silovs made some big saves, it would not have been too much to hope for Silovs to come up with one more big save. 3. I am not saying Silovs played badly. Edmonton had 3.74 expected goals tonight, so Silovs was close to "expected" overall, which is ok. And Silovs was not the reason the Canucks lost the game as Edmonton outplayed Vancouver. But I think it might be time for a change. 4. Tocchet also probably stayed a game too long with Cole. Not only did Cole score an own-goal in OT to lose the game, but he also had (another) bad game in general. He had the worst expected goal share on the team, despite not particularly tough minutes (Soucy and Myers had the primary shutdown duty against McDavid). The problem is that I am not so confident that Juulsen can handle the Oilers. He made a lot of progress this year and I like him, but he struggled in the one game he played against Nashville and he does not match up well against Edmonton. 5. McDavid, unfortunately, had a great game, with 4 pts. The Canucks mainly played the Miller line and Soucy and Myers against him. And the McDavid line did not actually score with those 5 guys all on the ice, although the ice was strongly titled in Edmonton's favor. The McDavid line did score in other situations. Edmonton was a one-line team tonight. McDavid, Draistaitl, and Hyman played together (over 18 minutes at 5-on-5, which is a huge number) and Edmonton won the scoring chance battle 18-1 with them on the ice. The Canucks "won" pretty easily against the rest of the line-up. 6. Have to mention Hughes, who had another very good game, despite getting high-sticked by McDavid. The referees missed the call but they were not bad overall. I was nervous with Sutherland reffing the game and I cannot understand why the NHL assigns him to Canuck playoff games given the history. But he was not the reason the Canucks lost tonight. 7. Have to give credit to the team overall for another tough, gritty performance (19 shot blocks, 43 hits!). Edmonton came out firing on all cylinders tonight and the Canucks still could have won this game. 8. It is not a surprise that Edmonton came out strong tonight. Now it is up to Tocchet to make some adjustments. But this is where losing Demmer really hurts. Edmonton is always going to generate a lot of scoring chances and the Canucks need high quality goaltending to have a good chance. I hope whoever plays the next game (Silovs or DeSmith) comes up big. Another change I would make is to put Blueger with Petey and move Hoggy to the 4th line (and Lafferty can play center on the 4th line). Having seen this replay with the skates pointing up, dangerous regardless if it was an Oiler or Canuck. I would not want a Canuck hitting McD or anyone else like this for that matter because you can get cut in the leg area. What is Kane thinking? Geez A clean heavy hit is one thing but pointing up skates not so good. Yikes.

stawns
18 minutes ago, 24K said: You can't just do in game adjustment when dealing with 97/29. They are too good to make adjustments on the fly without going over tape. Expect adjustment next game if that is the standard. Also you just have to accept that those two together are too good and probably no one can shut them down together. So let me get this straight. You want the lotto line to go against 97/29 but they lost to them at the end. So how does that help? In a series I will only consider a coach to be out coached is no adjustments are made game to game. I am all ears if the same thing happens next game. So you just say "I guess that's the way it is" and throw in the towel? I agree game to game is huge, but in a series where every game is critical, you can't afford not to make adjustments, imo.
