IIHF World Championships Thread

-Jordan Binnington-

St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington was in net for all six goals against. He made 15 saves.

Austrian netminder David Madlener stopped 42 shots and allowed all seven Canadian goals.

SN650- Drance and...... show had Kevin Woodley on this a.m.; almost all about Pickard and the NHL games, but did get asked about the World's and Binngton/Canadian goal tending problems, at the end of segment.

He asked for way more time, like a whole show and he'd breakdown ALL the issues.

Sounds like they'll do a full show after the Cup finals.

Big win for Canada over the Swiss....3-2 final.

The turning point was in the 2nd, when Kevin Fiala stuck out the knee on Dylan Cozens and was assessed 5 and a game. Kaidan Guhle took a dumb cross checking penalty after the knee, meaning Canada only had a 3 minute PP. Luckily, Cozens and Nick Paul were both able to score, giving Canada the lead they would not relinquish.

Jordan Binnington stopped a Penalty Shot, after Connor Bedard got caught trying to stickhandle at the offensive blueline, during that same power play....

Czechia is up next for the Canadians. This will be a tough match up....made even tougher with the announcement that David Pasternak and Pavel Zacha are on their way to Prague....

The Czechs have knocked off the Swedes and it wasn't particularly close.....at least on the scoreboard. The final was 7-3 Czechia and it sounds like Lukas Dostal outplayed Filip Gustavsson by a wide margin.

Canada is trailing the Swiss 2-1 after 2 periods.....

Canada gets a PP going to OT

I want Canada to win, but jeez if they win on a PP from a cheezy too many men call, it'll leave a bad taste.  Refs have to be able to use discretion.  Too many men should mean a clear violation, not call it during the mish mash of players coming on and off, and the puck happening to be picked up in the vicinity.

Now Canada gets called. dum dum dum dum.
