Yes.

Does Pettersson improve whatever line he's on?  Can he drive a line?

Last they reunited the Lotto Line, he struggled - and that line struggled (if I recall)

He turned a 24 goal Hoglander into a playoff dud.

Petey's in a Super Funk, got the Yips. Hope he figures it out before it's over.

Longest period the Lotto Line was re-united this season, Pettersson scored 12 pts, won player of the week.

Last few times it was re-united, it was only for half a game or less.

Hoglander scored 7 of his goals this season playing with Pettersson.

Can they just waive him to play in Abby? (next season) Mik needs to re-earn his spot on this team.

Saves about 2mil in cap is bought out compared to the ahl.

I think I'd like to see these line changes too:

Lindholm - Miller - Boeser
Joshua - Pettersson - Garland

As shown in the last few games, Lindholm + Boeser are great together. Slot Pettersson in with Joshua & Garland in Lindholm's place so he has better linemates and hopefully generate as well.

Sure, Let's let Pette screw up Josh and Garly also..

From Cap friendly:

"Teams do not receive full cap relief when a player on a one-way NHL contract is reassigned to the American Hockey League, or is loaned to a team in another professional league.
The players salary cap hit, minus the sum of the minimum NHL salary for the respective season and $375,000, still counts towards the team’s salary cap total."

For buyout, how cap hit will be

2024-2025 = $1 550 000

2025-2026 = $2 150 000

2026-2027 = $1 550 000

2027-2028 = $1 550 000

I stopped reading after you wrote this...

If you can only see a player for what they are during a bad slump then it is probably best you keep working with incomplete information.

Yep, at a certain point, the coach needs to realize we need to be able to create offence, and not just on a transition.  A strong offence with forechecking can easily eat up 2 to 3min.  That's 2 to 3min NOT in our end of the ice.

Are Boeser and Miller suffering offensively right now?  What about Hughes and Lindholm?  They are doing just fine offensively.  Kuzmenko was a major liability defensively, he would have gotten eaten alive in this year's playoffs.  As for Petey, playing with Mikheyev where every puck goes to die isn't helpful.  Neither is playing with Lafferty or Karlsson.  Petey needs a legit top 6 winger just like everybody other elite centre does in the NHL, including Miller...

Sit Aman, lafferty move mik to the 4th line or sit him doesn’t matter, put Hoglander (he’s always responded back with great games after sitting this year) and lekkerimaki with petey, your at home so you get to dictate the matchups, and for the love of god sit Ian Cole

This, and the 5.5 off the books next year is huge. Some key players need to be re-signed.

Like I can't even take this post seriously to be totally honest with you.  102 points last year turning Kuzmenko into a 39-goal scorer, 89 points this year even though he was in a slump.  It's proven statistically that Mikheyev and Lafferty are the worst ever linemates for Petey.  Even McDavid would be suffering with them on the wings.  Also, Petey had like 24 points on the Lotto line when it was reunited this year, so have no clue what you are talking about.

Also, you really think Hoglander not scoring has to do with Petey?  You think Tocchet is that dumb to scratch him if he thinks it's all Petey's fault?  Have you actually watched Hoglander play in the playoffs?

There isn't a centre in the NHL who would be successful with Mikheyev and Lafferty as their wingers.  Not even one...

There is 0 chance we don't throw Demko if healthy into an elimination game. Absolutely 0.

You’d throw a goalie who has played one playoff game and 2 reg season games in past 3 months into an elimination game, when a young stud has come in and been playing regularly and very well for the team?

Glad you’re not coach, lol.

Maybe if Petey was reunited with the Lotto Line, or partnered with Lindholm again, it would give him some life. They tried all this stuff already, though, but let's try again.

Petey will be faced with a long summer of harsh criticism if he doesn't figure it out in the next 2-3 games.

If Petey was 19 or 20 or 21, then I would give him a lot of leeway. But Petey is 25 years old (26 in November), playing in his 6th season, his 2nd playoffs.

Petey is struggling under Tocchet because I don't think he can play Tocchet hockey, and he has no confidence.

He was doing just fine up until the All Star Break.

Last night was particularly bad.  I think the numbers were something like the Canucks only winning 32% of the puck battles.  That's a combination of the Oilers playing for their lives, but also the Canucks not playing with the level of intensity they needed. If the battles are 50%, the game may have looked a lot different.

But that's been pretty much the same throughout this series and a good chunk of the series against the Preds as well

I look at it that:

Miller has 2 goals this entire playoffs.

Boeser has 7 goals but with a 31.82% S%... we both know that is absolutely not sustainable.

Lindholm with 5 goals with a 27.78% S%... again, not sustainable.

Quinn has 0 goals.

Reality is our offence has been pretty dry since the ASG.  Our defence has been great.  I just think we're leaning too far into defence, and not allowing the talent that we have to really just create offence organically.

I think Petey NEEDS to be with Lindholm at this point.

If Demko is cleared and team facing elimination, as an organization you have to play the horse that got you there to begin with especially over a rookie.

It is the same as the Lack and Luongo situation. If we don't play Demko in that situation then be ready to lose Demko. There will be no coming back from that.

Problem here you identified; we can play defensive hockey, but we cant play passive hockey. We played both last night and it bit us in the ass. That 3rd period in game 3 was defensive hockey with bite...and we won.

Again, we should stop pretending it's a one off, this has been the style for most of the post season.  They've had maybe three games where they didn't play that way.......it's clearly Tocchets choice to play this way.

They've been lucky, but only because Silovs is out of this world right now.

This team had two highly skilled, high scoring players who could change a game with their skill.  One went from 39 goals to what, 8 in a half season and was run out of town because he didn't thrive in a grinding defensive system?

The other is, possibly, the most highly skilled individual player the org has ever had and whose offense has disappeared in this grinding, defensive system.

At what point is it a coach's responsibility to adjust his own system  to let a player like Petey and Kuz do what they do best?

The Canucks were always going to be a grinding, defensive team it they wanted to make

the playoffs and have any lick of a chance to win a series or 2.  Providing playoff

experience for the core was the goal and they have certainly acheived it.

Pete has been targeted in both series so far and that won't change.  He can barely breathe

for the # of times he has an opposition player grabbing, hitting, holding, punching or

pounding his head into the boards.  I don't see how Kuzy would have fared any better.

He certainly wouldn't bring anything to the defensive game.

Young Pete's favourite player was Forsburg and I doubt it was solely due to his tremendous

offensive efforts.  Forsburg was a superstar who played the complete NHL game, in the

regular season and playoffs.

Right now, he is playing more like a Sedin, who were not doing much in the playoffs until

they were 26. Until then, they were treated with the same disrespect as EP by the opposition.

Eventually, the twins started focussing on building up their core strength and ended up

around 190 lbs during their peak years.  They took an incredible amount of pounding, but

were still able to produce huge offensive #s.

Yes, then they traded his "fun guy" friend and Petey disappeared. Is he emotionally fragile?
