HKSR
Panthers pretty much ragdolled the Rangers. If not for Shesterkin this would have been a sweep. The Panthers are on a mission this year.

-Buzzsaw-
Paul Maurice has shown he is a great coach... Jets should never have let him go. Panthers have to be a favourite for the Cup... last year they were really beat up... ton of injuries, this year they seem to be generally healthy. Goalie Bob was not dominant, but he didn't have to be... Panthers defense played extremely well... moved the puck fast and got it out of the D zone quickly. The best way to beat the Panthers is to hit their D... besides Ekblad, they are not big. You have to be right on top of them. Rangers did not do that... and their Powerplay was weak, and 5 on 5 their Zibanejad/Kreider line was a non-factor. Shesterkin played well, but he didn't get the support he needed. -Buzzsaw-
Barkov has to be considered one of the favourites to win the Conn Smythe at this point... although Tkachuk has more points. Forsling also is having a tremendous playoffs... just playing exceptionally. Last year it was Brandon Montour who stood out, but not this year. Yes, when he arrived as a new draftee, he was one of the weakest players on Calgary. But he really focused on his strength training. He is not a big guy, at 6' 1" and 195, but a lot of that is muscle. Some guys who put on a lot of extra muscle lose speed and dexterity, but he doesn't seem to have that problem. 1

Unfortunately no, we’re Screwed cap-wise and will be trying to run it back with a team that has much less depth. This team needs to start getting in the groove of bringing in 2-3 prospects every year into the lineup full time. That way you can continually have players on the league minimum and bridge deals to work the cap in our favour. When you watch teams that are successful a lot of them have traded a core piece or two in their prime to bring in GOOD prospects and picks that supplement their core in a short time.
