It always interests me reading someone's online handle / persona / etc and wondered the origins of same. For example, I used to play First Person Shooter games way back in the day when the internet was still in its infancy. The game I played a lot was Unreal Tournament. My gaming name was "LUCIFERS HAMMER" well because I would hammer pretty much everyone I played against globally, for the most part. There was always some snot nosed 12 year old that handed me my lunch laughing all the way because he played UT 19 hours a day and was well versed in the game's intricacies while I had a real life . For those players I would pull out the Aimbots now and then if they were really obnoxious on how "good they were and I sucked" (oh dear me, am I ever dating myself) and obliterate them - on the servers I could hack my way past. If any of you were the player named "The Hand of God" or "Black Knight", I was the one that blew you up every once in a while using aimbots - no judgement, they were used against me all the time. What a delicious experience those gaming days were, but I digress. Rocket-68 ... born in 1968 and my favorite Canucks player was Pavel "the Rocket" Bure. I have had many Canucks players that I really liked over the years and if I had a gun put to my head to list my top 5, here they would be: 1) Pavel Bure 2) Todd Bertuzzi 3) Sedins (can't separate them) 4) Ryan Kesler 5) Stan Smyl with Honourable Mentions going to Tony Tanti and Thomas Gradin. This was back in the Sedin days and was a tip of the hat to Led Zeppelin and to the canucks being a top team in the west Then it was ‘Wanless’ which is just my last name when this forum started up I went with ‘Johnny’ a tip of the hat to Johnny Canuck but spicing it up with Jack Nicholson in the shinning with the famous picture right when he says “heres Johnny” as my avatar. Originally from Vancouver and got into supporting the team as a kid when they entered the league. When the Canucks Fan Forum started I changed my handle to Reg. There is a somewhat unusual backstory here however it may be inappropriate in today's world. When he was given that insane contract. I changed my user name to Ghostsof1915 as an homage to the 1915 team. Not because I didn't like Lu. (I still do.) But because I thought that was the first boneheaded move by Gillis, and really it didn't save much off his cap hit. And in the end it probably screwed us as much as some of the Benning moves. Yeah it was legal at the time. But you knew damn well the league wouldn't stomach cap circumvention. Yeah, yeah I know Vegas and teams using injury relief on the cap with regular season cap dodging. The league should just have rejected the contract outright and had a governor's meeting that month stopping long term contracts to dodge the cap and instituting term limits to contracts.
