EPs contract is long enough, where he quite possibly will be part of 3 different cores from rookie season, to final year. Horvat, Miller, ?. For us it's Demko's and QHs current deals, and maybe JT Miller (age). They made it 4 playoffs (one down) even though Brock was in there and due for a raise, OEL etc. Once QHs gets to free agency, we will either resign him to a 14-16% cap deal (depends on how things go), or have to consider trading, hence a re-tool either by sacrificing something else to keep him (Demko maybe too), or trading to fill other needs in the future. It was the second highest of any NHL team. A lot of the best teams now, only have 1 postseason left before they are where we will be when QHs and Demko are up. Plus what's left for them this year (EDM). Dallas was the only team with no limit. Given their quantity of young stars, and that they're long in the tooth stars, can easily be replaced with equal or better players using free agency, and add more support. It's a compliment to be second on the list. The only thing they said was EPs new deal is going to put some constraints on how good our current window is. We've got Miller on a sweetheart deal, Brock too, Demko, QHs and the rest is more than palatable or not going to cost the farm to move. And we as a team, have one key guy who's just started his 30's ... we are going to be even better as a group going forward if Allvin can keep up the good work. This playoffs, that's such a valuable experience for them. Once the legacy deals start coming out, windows shrink (sometimes a lot), without re-tooling. It's possible we could have a window for the duration of EPs next deal, and for sure that will depend on how good Lekkermaki and D-Petey, Willander etc are. We've got some great support players. And some "passengers". The core, hard not to like it. EP needs his partner in crime. And sure he gets what it's going to take next time out. Wish Forsberg was his uncle. Or buddy. He played a bit like him last night as far as willingness goes for sure. Lindholm or Guentzal? That is going to be a tough choice. Yes agree, for some of the players it will be a max of 3-4 years, but I think, if (and as always that is a big ask) Tom and Jonathan full fills their potential we will cover the loss of expensive contracts... Some wheeling and dealing will also need to be done, as we need players/prospects back before we run down contracts for players we don't see coming back... hopefully... They found Joshua, and with a little bit of luck they can find another 1 or 2 like him... They will move on from mistakes and move players out, they brought in, if that’s what is best for the club. Plus they encourage their scouts and others in management to voice their opinions. Pears Posted May 21 Share Posted May 21 I think the priorities should be re-signing three of Zadorov/Hronek/Lindholm/Joshua, finding one or two top six wingers and adding some size and speed to the bottom six.
