I have a feeling there will be some big moves in the off season!! Definitely we need to re-sign Z and Joshua.

Lindholm would also like to keep but don't think we can resign him for the price he wants.

At least he knows, hopefully, he does something about it this summer, the dude hasn't gained a pound since we drafted him, which would be fine if he was 200 lbs but he's a beanpole at 6'2 176 lbs.  There is no excuse for a professional athlete to make no progress in 6 years.

or maybe some people just ain't capable of putting on weight period?? there are plenty of people like that in the world that are unable to gain weight.. have hughes gained anything since he was in the league? have he grown any bigger or taller? no? i can eat all the junk food in the world and i still don't gain any fat or weight myself.

im so confused re: not being keen on hiring a pp specialist.

the inability of our powerplay to adapt to penalty killers standing up at the line seems like a coaching issue, not a skills issue.

more personnel issue imo.

EDM for example would often dump the puck in on their PP and retrieve it because they had guys like Hyman, Nugent Hopkins, McDavid, Draisatl who could all retrieve/battle.

Canucks could really use a couple of guys that can do that in the bumper/net front.  The returning players will likely see the need to improve there as well

I've seen posts here throwing shade on our Swedish players, present and past.  Most of the posts point to how the Swedish players don't seem engaging with the media, how they seem to be disgruntled or not come across as authentic.

Maybe, just maybe, it's a cultural thing.

As an example, Japanese people are polite to a fault.  They'll never openly criticize someone.  They say sorry and excuse me more than any Canadian would.  They'll never tell you your Japanese pronunciation is shit, even though your attempt to order a ramen came out as a request for the proprietor to have sex with your tea.

It's their very nature.

And maybe, that's the Swedish thing.  Maybe they don't like to stand out.  Maybe they don't like being compared when dealing with sensitive topics.  Maybe they prefer not to let injuries be the excuse for their performance.  Maybe they would like to re-sign with the team but just don't want to draw unnecessary attention to the negotiations.  Maybe they just hate having a mic stuck in their face and being asked questions that all sound the same despite the genuine answers they previously gave?

Friendly tip: think before you criticize someone for their press conference performance.  Not everyone is comfortable in front of the cameras like Zadorov or Miller are.

Hronek is Czech 😆

lol. Not sure why you say he has made no progress in 6 years. That’s just not true. He isn’t the same as when he first arrived, regardless of what stats say. He certainly wasn’t throwing hits in his first few years like he was this year even on a bad knee. He had a rough second half of this year, he will improve over the summer. He will be fine

I said nothing about his play on ice, I'm purely talking about the guy still being 176 lbs after 6 years, I know he's one of if not the hardest workers on the ice, but that's because he loves hockey. But if he ever wants to be truly great at the game he's going to have to start taking his time in the gym more serious. I've been working out my whole life I've seen many many people, what they can accomplish 4 months of training seriously in the gym, and I can tell you flat out Petey is not taking that part of his career serious at all.

M aybe some of that reality is he was much less than  176 when we drafted him.  Look at those early pictures of the contract signing or his first season etc.  He's put on weight for sure 15-20 pounds.  Not sure if his frame will allow 190+

I think Joshua is going to price himself out of town and he's replaceable anyway.  I like DJ and if he can cash in, more power to him, but unless he's $2m or under, they're better off moving on

First off, if you can't gain weight your eating way less then you think, second that's not the kind of weight Petey needs to gain.  Hughes is way bigger then Petey he's 5'10 170 Lbs.  At 6'2 Petey would have to be about 185 Lbs to be about the same size as Hughes, proportionally and trust me 9 lbs would make a world of difference to his game.

I doubt he weighs the same. Those things are always outdated and rarely updated. Even just looking at him you can see a difference. Obviously there’s always more to work on, but to just assume he isn’t taking that part of his career seriously is a joke. We have no idea.

I'd say he's put on about 4lbs of muscle and lost the same amount of fat personally which is some progress, so I exaggerated a little by saying he's made no progress, my bad, but that is very little progress and can easily just come from being a boy when we drafted him to becoming a man.   He's got tonnes of money he can hire a good personal trainer and a nutritionist, at 25 he is at prime muscle building age he can put on a solid 5 lbs this summer if he wants to, but it will be hard work.

I see things a bit differently. EDM's pp success largely came from their ability to consistently skate cleanly into our zone, and then create a wealth of scoring looks with clean puck movement and elite talent.
