I’m looking at the rule book and it say the determining factor shall be the position of the puck when it was shot or batted.It then says if contact occurs when the puck in in the defending zone a penalty shall be called. i watched the play numerous times and the initial contact was inside the defending zone but in the process of shooting it the puck did not leave the stick till it was outside the zone. One could argue based on wording that it could have been a penalty however I guess the intention of the wording the way I see it, it should not be one.
