Those extra 30-40 points that McDavid gets are mostly on the PP when they have the man advantage, not 5v5. Look at the playoffs. 5v5 the Oilers suck, that's why they cry so much, they need power plays to win games. They get away with it considering the skill level of their top two-ish players and the strength of their powerplay.
