We can't claim to know his reasons, but like with the Clarence Campbell trophy, he may have simply not wanted to touch it cause it's not the one he wanted. I'm so f'n sick of seeing him as the so-called face of the league, "best" player, yap. There's a lot of other exciting players to focus on, maybe the NHL can get off the simplistic and lazy marketing idea that there's just one person to focus on.
