It would, though the purists would say "he didn't get it as a player".

Neither did Babcock, he got it all as a coach

Idk why the capacity matters, getting all three at all is incredibly tough to do

@tas Looks like the Edmonton Sun disagrees with you as well!

"

Who should be the Oilers GM next season? Vote in our daily poll!

Oilers captain Connor McDavid was so upset that he would not come onto the ice and accept the Conn Smythe Trophy from the NHL President for most valuable player of the playoffs. He is the captain and is expected to set the example of good sportsmanship regardless of who wins. The NHL should take it away from him just for his bad manners on television and to his fans and award it to the next NHL player in line. He does not deserve to have the C as captain on his jersey. Award the C to another worthy Edmonton player on the team. That was an embarrassment to Edmonton as well as his fans and Canada itself. An absolute disgrace."

He did get his name on it, there was a pic floating around..

I saw that, I don't think it's the actual engraving though, the names usually look rougher on the cup

Underrated moment of the finals celebration, the guys from the 'spittin chickletts' podcast who were cheering the entire way like they were a part of the Oilers organization wearing their jerseys etc...getting told to F off when they tried to go on the ice to shake the panthers' hands.

Gadzik would get the same treatment.

that's a letter written to the paper by one fan, not a journalist, and not at all representative of the overall feeling in the market.

good try, though.

Its all opinion.

Going out there may have been the professional and unselfish thing to do.  LIke why couldn't he just suspend his emotions for 10 minutes to grab the trophy and leave. Think of the children!

Or not going out might have been the  most unselfish thing he's ever done....to not go out, and abandon his team as Captain, to be praised and awarded as an individual in the face of such a team loss.  Where he would be rubbing it in "I've at least got mine Jack".

There's an argument to be made for both sides of the issue.

Again, who cares?

He could have gone out, taken the trophy and acted like a man...

Doesn't mean he's rubbing his team mates faces in it... The level of entitlement makes it even the more sweet, they never won...

He disgraced himself and the award by not coming out to receive it...

All he had to say was 'Thank you and Good bye"...  F him and his whiny childish behaviour...

Fun part is, I don't even like Panthers and their "normally" 250 fans... But dislike Oilers more with their entitlement...

Best news since we got knocked out, was hearing Myers broke Driedfishs ribs in the second game... arrogant prick...

the selfish thing would be celebrating your individual achievement instead of staying with your team. should be obvious.

Rubbish....

Its part of your job as an NHL player...whether you win or lose...

He could just have gone out and do what a proper Captain and human being would do... Say thank you, well played and good bye...

This way people would respect him, for having the guts to come out and face the music, despite it not going his way... every single one of his team mates would understand that...

Especially if he came back in and told the team, that this was only awarded to him because of them... next year we'll take the real prize... They would respect that, instead of him pouting like a spoiled kid...

If that's the worst moment in their lives then aren't they lucky.   Really?    Brock's endured a lot more.   It's just a game man.   Entertainers - that's what they sell.   And escape.    I'm sure their millions make it easy to "cope" with the worst moment in their lives.   Don't pretend to know what they are thinking in that room.   Maybe they are thinking next season.    Get they all dream of winning a cup too.    Someone had to lose.    Think your taking this much harder then you need too.   McDavid's sportsmanship isn't what i'd call great.   Did Crosby take a dive?   Was Malkin following his lead and diving all over?    They lost.   Karma maybe.  Or just a game of inches and the luckier team won who knows.

It was a win win in my books either way, growing up with Canada having stranglehold on it.   And the teams that weren't Canadian, loaded with Canadians.    The win is Luongo got to share it, get his name on the cup.   And EDM who beat us lost.    McDavid needs someone to help him with PR.   That much is clear.    Why is he the most unlikeable superstar in league history despite all the hype he keeps getting?

Perfectly said amigo... +100

A chance to clinch the cup and you allow 4 goals in less than 5 minutes in the first period...  Yeah, I do blame the goalie in that case.  Game was over right there.

But you can also argue they only made it to game 7 because of loungo. The team set an nhl all time record for fewest goals in a 7 game series. ANY 7 game series. He doesn’t deserve criticism more than the rest of the team.
