Kootenay Gold
15 hours ago, Sharpshooter said: So, I’m going to say something that may irk those that know me. Here we go… I think the Republicans have a winning issue with border security. No country, even the US, can allow a lawless border. People who are desperate and do desperate things, like crossing a River with their kid are taking their lives in their own hands. Should the Dems try to politically profit off that sad news? No. Should the Repubs, who are in Control of Congress, use it as a means to profit either? No. The Southern Border needs to be shut. Immigration policies also need to be adjusted in the scope of security and common sense. It’s a lot to unpack. As a person who sided with fairness and integrity I wanted to proffer my two cents. Pushback is certainly welcome. Respectful discussion is encouraged. I agree with your posting but the sad reality is that neither the Rep. or Dem. parties are willing to work together to find and implement a common sense solution to a very real and serious issue.

So far it is the Rep that is holding up everything cause they want this to be an issue to hurt Biden. That said there is no common sense solution to this, at least not quick ones. This is the result US is now paying for its countless coups and destabilizing operations down in Latin America by the CIA over the decades. Same goes for Europe, they paying the price for US middling in the middle east with their own migrant crisis. Only fix is long term investment and partnerships with Latin American countries to increase their standard of living so migrants don't have the desire to migrate to US to begin with. Stop with the whole freedom bs and just work with whomever is in charge. The US economy will take a hit as well as its corporate profits because of its reduced meddling but the choice is to either deal with the migrant situation as it is now or take the financial penalty and hope things calm down in the coming decades. 1 1

Well, one party actually is willing to work together and one is not. The Democrats have tried multiple times to reach a deal. Exactly the problem. They are not willing to work together to find a workable solution. In a catch 22 in Mexico as there is little incentive for companies to build and invest in the areas of Mexico that are in areas where rival gangs have ongoing battles for control of the drug trade. These are the very areas that many Mexicans are fleeing from.

"That hasn’t stopped House Republicans, more than 60 of whom traveled to the U.S.-Mexico border on Wednesday, from rejecting any sort of bipartisan deal on border security. And Nehl’s confession on Wednesday may hint at the reason why: Republicans care more about who sits in the White House than doing anything about the border situation they keep harping on about." Republicans want nothing to do with any bipartisan compromise. Because it will look like Biden won something. Then they go out on the campaign trail and bitch about Biden letting the borders go to hell. So disingenuous, hypocritical, and dishonest. But what else is new for the MAGAt Republicans. 1 1

Biden's whole shtick during election time was that Trump's border policies were "cruel and inhumane". He used that as a major talking point to persuade people. Biden has been using similar policies and tactics that Trump did but only a shittier version of them. Talk about hypocrisy

Reagan gave amnesty to millions. This problem has been festering for decades. But if you listed to CONservatives here and there, its been Armageddon since Jan 2021. 3

Talk about hypocrisy You know what he's not doing? Separating children from their parents and moving them to different cities, with no plan for reuniting them later....That's where the "cruel and inhumane" comes in. This policy was the brainchild of the biggest POS in Trump's inner circle, Stephen Miller. The biggest POS of all thought it was a great idea and signed off on it. This is one of the Trump policies that Biden ended and Republican assholes are using to blame JB for the "border crisis".
