That was indeed his go to move. I know he fucked over a few bigger ones too. The guy who has the windows contract for much of the project got screwed. It is in either the Trump or Dirty Money doc on Netflix.

He definitely didn't fuck over the concrete guys...cuz well...they were mobbed up 😄

I cancelled Netflix years ago.  I'll have to find and watch that documentary.  Sounds like they did a thorough job.

If you knew tradespeople here in NY state in the 90's and aughts, Trump's dealings weren't a secret even though they were mainly focused on the NYC area.

The dirty money one was solid. The Kushner episode goes into how the scumbag would sue people barely making rent over small bullshit while being a complete slumlord. Oh and just how fucked up his father was.

Seems there is nobody, in a position of power, with the moral strength to do the right thing.

The few remaining ww2 vets, left alive down there, must just be disgusted.

He would have actually been fine in the casino business if he didn't over spend building the Taj. His debt on it was way too large to cover. And that is even with probably stiffing every major contractor working on it......

Only an idiot would build competing property so close to your current business.

Trump plaza was literally 5 minutes away from Taj Mahal, he cannibalized his own market share.

And STILL couldn't make the nut to cover the debt on the Taj 😄

How is life in New York these days?  Seems like your state and NYC in general have taken a shit kicking these past few years.  I haven’t heard any good things lately from people who travel to NYC from Vancouver…

I dunno why you would say that! 😂   Doesn't every state have half ass assassination attempts on their Republican candidates for governor by a guy who thinks he's a ninja?!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpSUTTDwNUQ

Corruption and stupidity has always plagued this state.  NYC is like it's own state inside a state.  Now add in stupidity for selfish reasons and things go downhill faster.

Kathy Hochul had always been a centrist but she moved further left after becoming governor.  Her no-bail policy alone is going to lose her the governors mansion if she doesn't fix it soon.  People also realize that her stunt with the National Guard is for optics and not safety since the crime is still happening inside the stations and the cars and not the entrances where the NG is.

Four people were arrested earlier this month for randomly disposing of body parts of their murder victim.  The kicker?  The DA wouldn't charge them with the murder at the time and thanks to Hochul's no-bail laws, concealing a corpse isn't bail eligible and you have to be let go after processing.

The other day a homeless dude was walking around NYC punching random women.  And now there seems to be copycat offender(s).

Fortunately right now in Buffalo, our biggest worry is our NFL team owner wanting to screw fans over with the cost of PSL's for new stadium seats.  That and people crying and complaining that the sub-contractor's company owners aren't diverse enough.  Dirty little secret.  Want to appease the cryers?  Make a temporary LLC holding company, put a female relative as co-owner, get the job under that LLC, hire your own company as your sub-contractor and walla, diversity!  Then dissolve the LLC whenever/if ever you need to.

Went last year, had a pretty great time.  Only negative experience was LaGuardia TSA, but it's unreasonable to put that on the city.

What’s the deal with the squatters?  I was watching some X videos of squatters in New York who broke in and took over people’s houses while they were on vacation. One owner was actually arrested after they went to the house and tried to kick them out. That’s pretty fucked up.

Another owner said it took them 3 months to get their house back and when she got it back it needed a full renovation inside. It was beaten up right to the studs. That’s pretty messed up. How do you guys deal with this shit?  Is it your Governor who has changed the laws or what?

True.  That's a national problem, not just a NY thing.

That's what you get when you pay minimum wage to people and give them a tiny bit of power.  From what I'm told by frequent flyers is that it used to be much worse in the past.

Same answer as @Sabrefan1 gave for the TSA. If it happens in Texas you know it’s a national problem.
In Canada too by the way.

That's not just a NY thing.  Squatters rights were made back in the days when people would pack up their belongings, abandon their homes and property, and move to a different part of the country in their horse drawn wagons.  They were originally created for a reasonable purpose.

Problem is, those laws were never taken off of the books.  It was never as big of a problem until the far left started to pander.  Now there are people taking over people's seasonal homes or moving in on rental properties and once they establish at least 30 days of residency, it's tough to remove them.

Gov. DeDufus down in Florida finally reacted to an actual emergency correctly.  He recently pushed through legislation in Florida that will deal quickly with illegal squatters.

Is it really a left/right issue though? I guess the left would tend to be more hands off (or compassionate depending on your pov) regarding the homeless but I doubt most reasonable people side with squatters or this sovereign citizen bullshit. SC crap is more prevalent in right-leaning places and with the freedumber types but I wouldn’t put that on the right.

Personally if I had a problem with squatters in my home I’d go with a ‘private’ company before I’d call the police. 😉

Sovereign citizens are just idiots who are in a cult and just don't know or realize it.  I've never seen that attached to the left or the right.  There just happen to be more of them in right leaning states likely because they often have poor quality education in the poorest of those states.  The only blame the right has with them is that dummies statistically breed faster than educated people.

The genesis of the squatter issue isn't a right or left caused problem.  Like I said, the squatter laws once had a good reason behind them. The left as far as I can see are starting to dig their heels into backing the squatters whereas the right is backing the property owners.

To be honest, I expect the left leaning political governors to eventually acquiesce in favour of the property owners.  Besides it just being common sense, you can't collect property tax from squatters and the property owners will start dragging local and state departments through the court system when they try to collect from the property owners.

Funny you say that.  I just saw a video of a guy who has just started to hire out his services out to get rid of squatters from people's property.

I think Florida passed laws against squatting now.  And in Texas they have now deemed squatters as criminals, so you are legally allowed to use force (i.e. shoot them) if they illegally break into your home.  So, it may not be a left/right thing, but it seems a couple of "red" states are taking some action against it.

But what happens if the person is just turning around and using your driveway to do it?

Or, you broke down and go to the nearest home, looking for help?

Both cases, the innocent person doing innocent things died.

Why is it that there are people who are itching to be able to kill someone?  They think they gonna be Rambo.  Yet an overwhelming majority of the time the gun is NOT used against criminals.

I think Florida's law is that you just have to fill out a form at your local Sheriff's office and they'll go and arrest the squatters and charge them as felons if they've caused over $1k in losses.

Like I said, I believe the left states will eventually come around.  It's just shaping up right now that they're going to have to ignore or fight the furthest part of their own political base.  Those in the moderate left are likely going to side with common sense with this issue.
