Or possibly the SS has been ordered not to interfere if Agent Orange refuses to conduct himself appropriately.

The only people that the SS would listen to when it comes to protecting someone is higher-ups in the SS.  Trump could see me in the street, shoot me with a gun because he didn't like the way that I looked, and if I pulled a weapon in retaliation, I'd be gunned down dead and Trump would be escorted to safety.  Biden as POTUS could be standing there ordering the SS not to fire at me, and I'd still be toast.

Granted, Trump would be charged with murder, but that's not the SS's concern.  His detail's only job is to protect him.

I doubt very much that the Judge is bluffing and arraignments have probably been discussed with the SS on who is manning the watch. Secret Service (but Frump would prefer the other).

I have almost no doubt the SS has discussed this with NY.  It's on record in GA that they told the GA law enforcement that they would not allow Trump to be cuffed and/or perp walked to his mug shot/fingerprinting.

That's the big reason why I would still be surprised if they allowed him to be put into a cell.

After today's warning though, it seems more likely than I once thought.

Plus illegal possession of a firearm as he is under indictment. :hurhur:

He may not have known what Weisselberg was going to do when the conversation with Cohen happened, but I find it pretty difficult to believe he didn't know about the scheme at all. I just don't see him as someone who doesn't want to know everything about his business.

My guess is that AW and MC filled him in at some point. Cohen had just made it more difficult to prove. Hopefully, the prosecution has other evidence.

I know it's bad form to quote yourself, but the article that @nuckin_futz linked to reinforces what I said to @Sabrefan1 last week:

Quote

The first witness for the week was former Trump Org comptroller Jeffrey McConney. McConney was the person who authorized various payments to reimburse Michael Cohen for his payment to Stormy Daniels, which were invoiced as "legal fees." He said that Trump was very strict about personally approving all invoices, and even threatened to fire him once if he paid one without his prior approval. McConney said that was because Trump wanted to make sure that McConney negotiated every single one to try to pay less than the billing amount and Trump wanted to see that he was doing that rather than just pay them.

Just wait until his cellmate gives him a different kind of gag order.

I love quoting myself!

As long as McConney can credibly link Trump to any payment, it doesn't matter what's on a vague phone recording.

Take a bow.  You called that one right a few days in advance.

The prosecution is definitely not taking any chances knowing that these transcriptions are going to the appellate courts.

Warned about the story, published it anyway.

This is one of those situations where I genuinely don't understand what's going through her mind thinking this is somehow a good idea of a story to be out in public. She literally went after Biden and his dog (without evidence I might add) and then made herself look like the bad person instead of Biden... on the same interview.

I read an article in the Independent this morning that suggested she's angling for Wayne Lapierre's old job with the NRA. It said she'd leave the Governorship if she got the gig.

I suppose if she's given up on being Trump's running mate, that might look like a pretty good job....and it kind of explains why she would write something so abhorrent to the average person....it likely plays well with the gun nuts....

She can grift for years if she got that gig.  Minus the corruption ole Wayne was up to.  Even then, she could do similar corruption for years before having to pay the piper.

Exactly. Were I in her position, I'd likely think the same....

....except of course, for that fact that I completely abhor guns.

This is a story that flew under the radar.  When the QOP passed their budget in March, they declined to renew the "Cancer Moonshot" initiative that was started in 2016.  At the time, it had bipartisan support.  The QOP say it got axed because of the "deficit", but funding the program actually is a benefit.  The actually cut it so Biden doesn't get a win.

Imagine being this short sighted and petty.  Canadian CONs have his in their future.  Some of them are already there.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/voices/2024/05/05/biden-cancer-moonshot-initiative-congress-funding/73525016007/

Congress voted against funding a cure for cancer just to block a win for Biden

Some Republicans, refusing to give President Joe Biden a 'win,' voted against the renewal of funding for cancer research. Vote for those who do not politicize Americans' health.
