Getting fired, for using a book on the approved reading list:

ATexas middle school has fired one of its teachers for assigning a graphic novel adaptation of "The Diary of Anne Frank," according to a report.

The Houston Chronicle reports that the Hamshire-Fannett Independent School District sent the unnamed teacher home last week after she read a portion of Frank's diary where she "wrote about male and female genitalia" to her eighth-grade reading class.

The graphic novel adaptation of Frank's diary kept her original text in full, although the Chronicle notes that "previous versions of Frank's diary omitted sections in which she wrote about sexuality.

Local station KFDM, which originally reported the story, obtained a statement from the school claiming that the illustrated version of Frank's diary had not been approved for teaching, although the station found that "it was on a reading list sent to parents at the start of the school year."

The diary of Frank, a German-born Jewish girl who was killed by Nazis at the age of 15, has been taught to middle school children for decades.

The firing of a teacher for assigning the illustrated version of Frank's diary is just the latest battle in right-wing culture wars that have seen books of all kinds banned from school libraries and teachers reprimanded or fired for teaching purportedly controversial texts.

Edit- I've tied to correct this mess of a post about 6 times, and at this point I'm tapping out.

It is what it is!

We knew it was coming but it doesn't lessen the sting of it any less. I cannot believe that this is 2023 and Diary of Anne Frank is a banned book. WTF??????

Well well.  There's a memo.  The whole firing the Ukrainian prosecutor thing wasn't Bidens call to protect Burisma.  He was just the messenger, telling the Ukrainian president at the time US policy.

Sheldon Whitehouse keeps on digging and making a case...

This should be something that is hammered relentlessly during the impeachment.  Along with the investigations into other members of the GOP and their families as well as the Trump kids.

Let's hold everyone accountable.  Since the GOP wants to be the party of "law & order" make them accountable.

Hell, make a code of conduct change towards sitting members of the senate and congress about their behaviour in public and about decency or indecency and call it Boeberts law.

Hey Sabre.

You know what man.

I missed you bud.
Welcome back

Thanks.  Just reminding people that I'm a bit of a rascal/d-bag.

Most people here have never been to the southern US.

I'm wondering how many people thought this was funny but squeezed their cheeks afraid to react to it.  😂

I've been there.  I just smiled and nodded a lot and avoided engaging in any level of questions about Canada or politics at all.  Kinda liked a lot about the US.  Especially Nevada/Arizona

Honestly Ron, I think you're overestimating it.

Think back to the last three National elections in the US. Republicans underperformed in all of them.

Yup, because they ran a slate of known election deniers and abortion haters.

All they need to do is put in an anti immigrant anti crime (don't matter if crazy) guy like Desantis (and he is crazy!) who doesn't have, well, a ton of the above baggage to make easy to make attack ads. The elections even with the underperform are generally razor thin. Take out some of the other sides obvious easy points and it can flip.

That said it's unlikely they do it because the crazy people on the right don't even care if they win anymore as long as they can troll.

The South is interesting.  This guy is likely dumber than a tree stump, but if you struck up a conversation with him on the street, he'd invite you into his home and cook a meal for you while telling you stories to entertain you as his guest.

Unfortunately the younger generations along with the technology we all love are homogenizing the south more and more as time passes and they are making fewer people like the guy in the video.

Was the fired because A) It had sex in it or B) It's incredibly insensitive and bordering on kiddy porn like exploration to include unauthrorised personal thought of the teenager regarding her personal sexual feelings.

I bet it A but it should be B.......
