Jaimito
VP pick doesn't usually matter. A bad one will hurt, like Palin which hurt the ticket overall (many independents saw that as reckless) but did galvanized the base. Harris will give to win the primary first before any VP nomination. So those that openly support her will not compete with her for the primary. A smooth primary and nomination is key. A divided party in DNC convention in Aug will not win. Remember when Hillary spoke and backed Obama on the convention floor? James Clyburn the king maker, already endorsed Harris. Newsom, Pete, and both Clintons too. As an aside, Harris went to high school in Montreal, Westmount High school. I used to live not too far from there in my college days. She's definitely not progressive on the spectrum of a Bernie or AOC, so she's more center left for Americans. For anyone against trump, Harris is a safe bet if Biden's aging was a a concern. Even Nikki Haley's PAC is on Harris camp. Edited July 22 by Jaimito

She was on the short list for Biden's VP in 2020. I think two women on the ticket will not do as well in the US. Maybe get a white hetero male to balance it out for the older voters. Until Boomers die off, a female president may be hard to achieve. Then again, Obama won twice. Hillary did win the popular vote, but that doesn't count. Elections are usually about change. Harris will need to run her vision. Can't be just the same as Biden. Immediately, the contrast is stark when compared to Harris. Trump looks like a old man, which he is at 78.

24K
Newsome can't be VP as both are from the same state. Newsome can move but I doubt he resigns as giv of Cali for it. The best choice is Sharpiro as delivering Penn pretty much seals the deal for Dem. Next top choice would be Kelly sealing the Arizona and Nevada path. Only concern is will the Dem want him out of the senate given their already tough map for senate control. Whitmer is good for Michigan but that was likely going to Biden to begin with so not much help there. Plus 2 women may be stretching it for a ticket. I like Pritzker but think he will aim for President in 2028 or 2032 and Illinois ain't even close to turning purple. Pete does nothing for Harris electorally. He might be best as the surrogate attack dog and given a larger portfolio if Harris wins to set him up for a future presidential bid.

It makes more sense to pick someone from a battleground state, which is why Shapiro, Kelly or Whitmer seem to be the most likely choices....

I liked it when he stood up and welcomed women from red states who needed abortions. He’s also wealthy but doesn’t mind spending his own money on important causes. I’d forgotten about his challenging Trump & the ppa thing. Another feather! He’s also a guy that would appeal to woman across party lines. Elias Pettersson
They will use the 25th amendment to get rid of Biden for good. Why? Wisconsin doesn't allow ballot withdrawal except death. Nevada no changes after June unless death, declared insane/mentally incompetent. States like South Carolina don't allow withdrawal 4 political reasons. Unless Republicans vote 25th amendment a new nominee won't be in the election. So, basically there are several states that can't take Biden off the ballot and change it to Kamala or anyone else. Unless Biden is deemed mentally incompetent or dies. This means they have to 25th amendment Biden and Kamala has to take over as President... Can you verify if this is accurate? @Sabrefan1
