[Speculation] Comprehensive 2024 NHL Unrestricted Free Agents

Recommended Posts

ID like to sign Nick Blankenburg as our mark Friedman replacement. He could have some upside working with our coaching staff too. Not sure if they are a fan of his game though or his size.

A good offseason to wait it out and get guys that overvalue themselves and are forced to sign cheap.

Yeah agreed.  Particularly to fill out the bottom 6 and bottom pairing D.

Haha that’s an insult to Vintage!

No one should be mentioned in the same breath.

Im just a gossip hound and love playing armchair GM with everyone else here. This is such an exciting part of the hockey year too for all of us so doing my part to annoy everyone with the latest dirt sheet material.

I was gonna say, if we had the money to just keep what we have man would I ever. Over spending top dollar.

There's some really good players in the UFA market this year; many of which would be

a great fit on the Canucks.  It's hard to put a price on some of them, because their

team may raise the anti to keep them.  I've put together some that will make the team

stronger.

There is also the possibility for a Hogs/Mik for ? and Hronek trade for Necas + ?

C. Stevens 4.4m   JT 8m   Brock 6.5m

Duclair 4.4   EP 11.6m   Perron 5m (or Necas 7.5)

Van Riemsdick 1.8m    Blue 2m    M. Joseph 2.95m

Ama .815m   Suter 1.8m   Podz 1m

Di Gi .775

52.07m  Necas' salary counted

Hughes 7.8m  Hronek 7.5m (or Roy 5m)

Soucy 3.2m   Myers 3m

Erik Gustafsson 2.3m   Hakanpaa 2m

Juulsen .775

24.17m Roy's salary counted

Goalies: Demko 5M + backup 2m

7m

Total: 83.24

9 ufas +  2 trades

I haven't seen anyone talking about Kane on a short term deal for a top 6 spot in Van

Still preforming at a good clip-points wise anyhow.

I'm not against taking a look.

If you get him on a one or two year deal for a couple million to play with petey and bridge the gap until Lek is more ready for primetime, it might not be a terrible idea.  He showed, this season, that he can still be a top 6 fwd and pp weapon

Would Lane come here though?

Have to ask, to find out.

Plusses for him are:

the team is on the rise

could really use his experience

minuses

a lot more travel, including border crossings

cab drivers in Vancouver would beat the crap out of him, if he gets handsy.

-------------------------------

the down side for the team could be-

Is he a bit tainted, because of the Kyle Beach tragedy- and the afore mention cabbie incident?

And the Canucks could afford to overspend on him a bit if it's short term.  Lots of Americans on the team as well.

He'd be great for the pp, imo
