Top 5 highest paid contract for a guy not serious about training yikes.

Where do you get that idea?

Did you look at his photo?  You don't get legs like that unless you train hard.

All Tocchet said was it’s a big summer for Petey. He did not mention training habits did he? Seems like an inference from some listening.

Look, you're welcome to hate on Petey, lots of people like to. But anyone being objective saw his pictures in the offseason and preseason and saw he was very serious about training. He clearly had put on alot of muscle....go look at the pictures. That doesn't scream lazy or bad habits

He got hurt, it was his knee, tendinitis. All players work out during the season between games to maintain their muscle mass. They have to because if they don't the skating they do will make them lose alot of muscle and weight.

Now think about where players have to put on muscle and strength in the NHL. Legs and core. Guess where Petey was clearly unable to lift post January and his KNEE tendinitis....so for a player like him, who's already light and not the strongest, he reverts back to small Petey pretty quickly.

Tocchet was not telling him he was out of shape or not committed, he was saying to ALL his leaders, they need to find the next level like Crosby, McKinnon, etc...to suggest all players train like those guys is ridiculous, they are maniacs, and he wants the same from his leaders because that's what it takes to win, that's all.

I am hearing a lot from Tocchet about how Pettersson needs to improve.

But I am not hearing anything from Tocchet about how his coaching could improve.

I have yet to hear anything where he acknowledges that just maybe, he made mistakes during the playoffs, (he did) and could improve.

One thing I know for sure... if Tocchet continues to play Pettersson with 4th liners, he will not get optimum production from him.

What a goofy comment. Tocchet won the Jack Adams and was an excellent coach all season long. Pettersson played great but then disappeared after the ASG. The focus should be squarely on Pettersson.

'This is a big summer for Petey', as Tocchet said, sounds like a challenge for the $11.6 player. There will be a lot expected from Petey, and he now knows full well what it takes to be successful in the playoffs.

I get the feeling Petey is super competitive and expects the most from himself, so I think he's going to put in the work this off season. I just remember when the Canucks were eliminated and Pettersson stood on the ice, last player to leave, and he took in the fans and atmosphere. He's going to remember that and he'll want to get back there - but be successful the next time.

tocchet also called out pettersson's practice habits during the year, noting that petey likes to take it easy in practice so he "has energy" for games, but that's totally antithetical to tocc's belief that you play like you practice.
