San Jose - Vancouver (Proposal)

Recommended Posts

Say by mid December and podkolzin isnt performing up to where we think he can, we're looking at tinkering and upgrading the wing/center position. Not sure if Podz will be anything more than a top 9 winger and were focused on winning right now.

Van: Hertl (15% retention ($6,916,875)

San Jose: Myers, Podz, 2024 1st

Doesn't hurt us too bad long term.

Thoughts?

San Jose says, "omg lolololol", farts in the receiver, and then hangs up.

Why would SJ consider this?  A $6m cap dump. A prospect who has been disappointing so far and a 1st is a terrible offer. Plus you want them.to  retain for seven years.  Think about that. 7 years of dead cap and they're getting a crap return on a top line player

It's obvious they want to gain cap space and build for the future. Podz has incredible upside, but will we have the patience for it to come to fruition?

With long term contracts teams can't expect to gain much. They gain cap, get a promising player and a first round pick. Don't think it's that laughable. We were offered 2 late firsts for Miller by the Pens and he's a lot better than Hertl.

Big No - Hertl -C -  30 yrs old November - 7 yrs X 8.1 million???? NO NO -- We have Miller 30- C - 7 yrs X 8 million

Petey 24 -C -- Will demand 11--11.5 million X 4 yrs?

Pay Hertl   8.1 million to be #3. centre..

Power forward with grit or a # 4 D man under 28..

Please no more trades ideas for 30 year old players making big money.

Canucks want cap space..

Which power forward do you have you eye on?

Foegele? With Kane signed Foeg's is the odd man out in their top 6 I think...he hasn't been getting the minutes for the past 2-3 years. If he got 2nd line minutes he just might surprise some folks. I think the potential is there...27yo...prime years...and only 1 year left on his contract if he doesn't work out. And right now he's the opposite of Myers (he's owed more money than his cap hit so we might be able to get him cheap).
