A team that is willing to give Tanev 6 or 7 years thinks Zadorov is too expensive…

What is he asking for?

Maybe he wants the 6x6 Loui/Myers special.

Sorry Zads, DimJim isn’t in the league anymore and Tree is out of dough.

Remember last summers signings?

Soucy, Cole, Blueger, Suter

Nothing but undervalued depth. But all of those guys made a huge difference for us.

The rest was filled through trades. DeSmith, Lafferty, Friedman, Zadorov.

Follow that same strategy. Get a couple D men who are undervalued and wait out the market for a couple bargain guys and trades.

Great perspective! Our management knows what they're doing. Full confidence right now. They know what we need and how to fill those voids.

What I've learned is to be patient and not panic.

Desperation moves in order to "do something" aren't always the best in the end.

This team's not too far off and our management group has managed to pull off some surprises - even if they don't take place tomorrow.

Some want a saviour and to put all the eggs in one basket but it is a team game and chemistry/fit is as important as anything.

This management team has earned the benefit of doubt...

Teams signing their own UFAs shouldn’t stress us out.

I thought Tanev at 6 years would be in the 4s.  He sure didn’t give the leafs a discount.

Guentzel would have been fun, but a more balanced approach still makes more sense.

Lots of good targets still on the board. Almost 15 mil in cap space.

_______-Miller-Boeser

Hoglander-Petey-_______

Joshua-Suter-Garland

PDG-Bleuger-Podkolzin

Aman

Hughes-Hronek

Soucy-Myers

______-_______

Juulsen

Demko

_______

Silovs

There’s a core of a playoff team there and more than one way to fill out so we’re pushing into contender level. Can’t wait for tomorrow.. but even if we’re patient in UFA frenzy, I’m confident we’ll figure something out.

I would say they need to dedicate 8 mil to the D. Something around like 4-5 and 3-4 mil. A left side and a right side D.

The leftover money needs to be given to a second line winger. Whoever you can get for 5 mil on a 3-4 year deal.

I agree except sign Zadorov and then sign a cheaper depth defenseman and the rest to a second line winger.

Zadorov or bust baby.

i think he’ll get fair value in the least .

Hes built to last well 38-40 yrs of age I think .

Moreso I think he wants to get a bit closer to  6 m with good term,

The market has shifted in his favour at 29 .

But a six year 5.54 -5.8 is probably where it’s headed.

seeing what DJoshua signed for , I doubt the Canucks offered much more than 5m , and may have been under that figure.

Management holding tight on their posture to save room for Guentzel was a mistake I think .

I appreciate trying , but if you miss everyone regroups to a plan B or C.

There had to be at least 10 teams interested Guentzel.

As soon as Tampa cut bait on players ,

the market shifted.

I understand that Guentzel may have a pen in his hand at midnight .

Enjoying Florida and 10 m for years isn’t too bad of a lifestyle!

Zadorov was reportedly looking for 4.25 before he went to Calgary and got 3.75.

they never gave him the opportunity to “show” his upside strength because of their system .

here, in Vancouver he did , and o think easily showed he is a +5m player that could be paired with Hroneck or Hughes.. which he was in the playoffs .

Had an offer sheet gotten to him for 5.2 x 6 after the first round ,   I think he would have said yes.

Tomorrow we get to see how this all unfolds .

we will regret letting Zadorov go , rare type of player that seems to be just going into his prime years now..

That has to do with opportunities more than age.

The crappy thing is losing all those assets for Lindholm and Zadorov,.  But not being able to keep either .

Just my opinion .

Hard not to like a guy like him regardless of what happens.

I’m sure he has his best interest in mind

I couldn’t agree more. Time for management to circle back to Zadorov and pay him what he wants.
