But losing Zadorov ,. I don’t think that was necessary after Mikeheyev was traded.

 

To much upside with a full tool box not to give him 5 - 5.5 here.

 

Nothing was confirmed about what the Canucks did offer ,

but I think Milstein will let us know.

 

perhaps the whole thing of having 4 or 5 contracts with us, and being asked to move Kuzmenko and Mikheyev for management has left him not trusting management here??

If we re-signed Zadorov and landed Debrusk, I think folks here would have been happy.  But losing Z leaves a big gap on this team.

7 year contract. The AAV is fine. Committing 7 to a guy you don't even know will work in your system is a big gamble.

We needed a winger that could skate, get in on the forecheck and dig out the puck for Pettey. Was there a better UFA to fit this role than De Brusk?

Seriously who would fill this role better. 
Litttle guys like Terravainen and Arvidson, slow disengaged Tofu?  Guentzel was off the board and was fantasy anyway.

fair enough... free agency is tough to come out really happy with a contract. I feel like you either over pay or have to give more term than you want. I think this one is a decent gamble.

I honestly feel like we couldn't offer him what the unknown held for him.

 

He wanted to find out and I'm not sure we could've kept him because he'd made the decision to test the market. Lindholm too.

Tbh I'd be looking into packaging Hoglander and a couple other assets for a top 6 winger for EP right now.
