[RUMOUR] Leafs have NO interest in extending Mitch Marner, possible trade this week

yeah this is my thinking as well

guy is 27, elite talent, his next contract will only take him to age 35. thats very attractive compared to signing a ufa like guentzel.

2x 1sts or equivalents will be the price imo.

It will be a tough deal to design because he is a very good player but is AAV is too high and he only has one more year left until UFA. I don't see many teams giving up much unless they are very comfortable they can re-sign him at a lower AAV.

I find it hilarious that the leafs, despite all their trying, have been unable to move Marner. His NTC is killing them, and hopefully he simply walks away at the end of the season.

If there was anyone more suited to be on Petey’s wing. It would be this guy.  That would be an elite pairing.

Would they consider a Garland, a first and JL?

It would be dependant on Marner signing an extension here of course.

Horribly overpaid. He’s a super skilled winger, no doubt about it, but too soft for our system, and he’s too entitled now, accustomed to living as a “God” in Toronto. No thank you.

JT Miller might knock him out if he pulled that shit on this team.... I could also see Tocchet giving Miller a "high five" for doing it. LOL

Lekermiakki will probably be the best offer they get. I like the idea.

Would need to be Marner 50% retained to work for VAN. Can't see TOR doing that!

It's the only way they'll get rid of the contract.  Even at 50%, he likely has negative value with his refusal to break a sweat in the playoffs.

Last 3 seasons:

1.3 pts/gp in the regular season + 1.0 pts/gp in the playoffs (plus elite PK'ing factored into the production)

Think he has value to anyone that can afford the $10.9m contract. At 50% his value is off the charts!

He's put up points but it's pretty clear to everyone he doesn't care about winning.  You don't want a lazy floater like that in your room if you're serious about contending.

I think you nailed it. What would RT do when Marner turns away from the board work and rolls his eyes? He is talented but we have talented players already.

Maybe he's a better fit for Carolina?

Marner would help us play fast hockey.

That being said, in short of a big retainment and us unloading Garland or Boeser along with pics and/or prospects, there's no cap space.

Our pk with the additions of Desharnais and Marner would be great though.

Special teams and crappy reffing sunk us this year.

things that rhyme with Mitch

after his playoff performance and I’m talking about the one on the bench since there really isn’t much to talk about on the ice.

Trade value for  entitled forward.

hope leaf’s get  lowballed to get rid of him.
Or better yet they keep him since he fits the TO model for players.

entitled bitch

You don't score at a rate of 1.3 pts per game in the playoffs being a lazy floater. At 5.9 Marner is a legit steal

Except he doesn't have 1.3 ppg in the playoffs. He's done that that rate twice in 8 playoff seasons.

Even if he did score at that rate, the number of goals against (not sure how to find that) could suggest that he is a floater.
