[Signing] Canucks extend Blueger

Recommended Posts

Blueger can be a third line center if he has a 5mil winger beside him. I think Podz and maybe Karlsson can be tested to replace DJ to complete our third line. Now they should load up on Petey's wings.

Allvin did it again.    Bluegar UFA predicted price  2.25 x 2.

Hronek 7.4 x 8.

That's already saving us 600k or so on two guys, below analytic value.

Next up, Zadarov 4.5 x 6 please.

If everybody just takes a small cut on their market value, we can ice a really solid Cup contender.  If Blueger can take a pay cut, so can others.

Yes.   Shouldn't be the marginal guys taking the biggest pay cuts either, like 30% or so under market value.    If everyone takes a bit less for sure we can.   Miller signed with Horvat in mind.   Definitely left a fair wage for him (just over 7).

Zadarov 5 x 5.   Or 4.5 x 6.

Yeah, some of the players like Miller have taken 'discounts' to remain with the team. Wish more of the stars would take more discounts, so that they could win, like Florida. How much is Matthew Tkachuk making? Less than 10m? 9.5m?

Yet take home more than EP. Tax free states are BS under a cap system.

Bobrovsky takes home around the same as McDavid does.    MT takes home 700k MORE then EP does.    Anyone who doesn't think players factor this in when they negotiate deals in high state tax cities, isn't paying attention.   When EPs agent was asked if his next deal would be in the same range as MT, he responded yes.   It's not at all in the same range is it .. cap wise, net pay wise it's a lot closer.    In the off season after 100 point season... so.      TB and Miami aren't "team friendly deals".     They are low state tax deals.

Edit:  For sure location matters too.   Vancouver offers a lot.   Canada for the most part, is a safer place to raise a family.    Depends what you like too,  sun and heat, or moderate climate, mountains and ocean.

And how valuable is the extra millions at trade deadline, free agency when trying to build a contender? It's BS. It's not a level playing field. But Bettman loves it because it benefits the American teams.

That calculator is not correct. It's just multiplying salary by effective tax rate in the city the team is in. Pro sports contracts are considerered income earned where the game is played. Meaning Petey only pays BC tax on 50% of his contract (the 41 home games). It nearly cuts the difference in half if you apply the effective tax rate of each province/state for the 41 away games.

One of the 650 morning show guys made a comparison that Benning signed Beagle, 33 at the time to a 4 year 12m contract with AAV of 3m vs Alvin with Blueger(younger and arguably the better player) for 2 years at 1.8 per.  What a difference competent mgmt makes

Have to add though (not to be apologetic towards Benning), if often easier to sign friendly contracts, when the team is doing well....

Nevertheless JR/PA are killing it just now... Get Zad signed and then we only need 1 winger for Petey... and perhaps a tough 4th liner (but that would probably be too much to hope for...

Add endorsements paid at home and savings can add up quickly with no state tax teams.

Benning was horrible only his drafting might be ok had some really good picks and had some really bad ones, as for his free agent signing who pays a 4th line center pk speciality 3mil x 4 year and no one on management told him that was a dumb signing he had many others doesn't no how to get good value contract and overpays everyone no wonder players love him.

This is underselling Beagle a lot, he was a solid player as good all around as Blueger and better on faceoffs. Not his fault Benning overpaid by 2 mill and 2 years.
