(Trade) Canucks have traded Mikheyev

He has 1 20 goal season in the NHL, and that was a contract year.

He was just really lucky for a while then completely lost his confidence in the new year.

He had like 10 goals in his first 30 something games this season. And didn't look out of place at all.

I think a fresh start could do wonders for him. Going to Chicago gives him a chance to player higher up in the line up and potentially play along side of Bedard. It isn't a bad spot if he wants to reignite his career. Just look at Dickinson.

If he doesn’t waive his NTC, the Canucks can waive him and the Blackhawks can still claim him off waivers (2nd highest waiver priority, so he is pretty much going to end up there unless the Sharks claim him) and we can still trade the second round pick plus rights to Lafferty for a 4th round pick in a separate trade.

The greasy side of the biz..

im aware.

I look at the perceived bounce back is in his speed/knee and pking ability.

And hes not exactly an NHL ironman

Fair, I just don't think he's worth his contract even if he does bounce back.

After this trade happens, this is our cap situation…

16 players signed

$21,503,333 in cap space including LTIR

Plenty of money left over to re-sign Zadorov, Myers, Silovs and add a top 6 winger for Petey…

Myers?

I've got another RHD and some bottom 6 grit ahead of my to do list before Myers.

Who's the RHD target ahead of Myers?

Roy?

It’s not even his speed.. this guy needs a direction finder for his shot.. he can’t even hit empty nets

Yep. This is pretty huge if it goes through.

5.5~ for Zad. 3 for Myers. 9.5 for Guentzel. 1~ for Silovs, and you have a bit over 3 mil after that to fill a couple more spots with depth.

Fellas, let's not jinx it. Nothing is official yet.

What’s the worst case scenario?  We get to laugh at the Blackhawks because they’re now unwanted? Win/win!

I know you’re not a Myers fan, but he was stellar in the playoffs, even took out Draisaitl and broke his ribs. I’d easily re-sign him to a 3 year extension up to around $3.5 million. Him and Soucy make a great pairing.

And even add a depth value guy or two

21

- approx 5 for Z

- 3 for Myers

- 1 for Silovs

- 9.5 for JG

2.5 left for a depth forward or a bottom pairing rhd.

Or both if they scrape the bargain bin.

If we miss out on JG and got toffoli or another top 6 option for 6-7 M

Leave us 5ish million left for another RHD and a top 9 forward.

Moving off Miks money really opens the doors of possibility for us where we can actually see how the team can be better on paper next year.
