Oh I know what you're saying. I just didn't want to be called a Nazi anytime soon so I was making clear of my position if you weren't sure.

Nah, we actually have a little more common ground than you would expect for people at the opposite ends of the spectrum.

OK so that sounds like you made your choice and were cool with the consequences, and I can respect that. You didn't try to force yourself on someone who didn't want to be exposed to you at work.

For me, bring on the shots. I take them all :classic_laugh: but I've been in medtech for 25 years so I have a lot more comfort with the development processes than most.

I know and previously you used to be a lawyer for a few years too. Lol

Truthfully, I won't get into all of it, but it was recommended to me early on that these vaccines wouldn't be a good idea for me. That changed and I was concerned with why that changed. Never got a straight answer other than well, It's just what's being suggested.

I think the writing was on the wall for most of us back then that he would get it.  That’s the problem right now.. millions of people and these are the best we can pull together?  Guess it could be worse. Trumps not Canadian 😂

Yeah that's a fair point to make. As for there could be worse. Do you ever notice in Canada? When things are bad we can always look to the United States and say well at least it's not this bad? I don't know what that makes things better or if that just sets the bar really low.

Maybe I'm used to it. My wife votes for the green party, my dad is a staunch new democrat and my sister well she belongs on that socialist utopia island.

I'm telling you what I recall him saying not what I'm saying. As an Albertan, these protests took a chunk out of our economy as well because while you guys were focused on Ottawa, it was quite a blockade in Southern Alberta as well.

And in BC, we were just as focused on your troubles as our own.  As well as Ontario. It was seeing your blockade that led to us being able to stop a formation the likes of Coutts on our crossings, even the parade they planned in Vancouver was cut off by counter protests.  Would have been nice to see some of your own people stand up for themselves like ours did. That’s a lot of money in trade that was held up.

just FYI - if you're concerned about the mRNA technology, there is a non-mRNA Novavax option (https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/drugs-health-products/covid19-industry/drugs-vaccines-treatments/vaccines/novavax.html)

I didn't even know there was anything similar going on in British Columbia.

Well I see where you want to take this and I'm going pass. I'll just make it clear. I don't support Scandinavian style governments. I did however need a South African and I asked him what he thought he had been here 90 days. He said. He said it's very expensive and the health care isn't very good. What surprise me is he told me they have private healthcare over there. I thought the United States was an outlier on that one

I know you have. I remember you telling me you've even been to China and stuff for work. I was just bugging, Jimmy..

It's like me. I used to own a bunch of trucks. Hauling oil ended up selling them a year and a half back and now I'm just back out in the field. One thing I will say about inflation is that I made a lot of money on reselling these used trucks lol

Also, just to be perfectly honest, I'm not like a conspiracy theorist saying they're putting something in your body and these vaccines aren't tried and tested. That's not my position here. It was more of the immune response issues with mRNA

Yeah we had our own clowns on bridges and borders.

Not really sure about who else in the world has private pay.  I’m a firm believer in universal health care as I’m sure you can assume 😂

Why wouldn't you want to get into the comparison of the two countries?  We always want to be better no?  Denmark is one of the highest ranking countries in the world for quality of life. Green technology, lots of high paying jobs.  If you want to watch a cool documentary that shows what good govt infrastructure deals look like watch

don’t judge a book by its cover. It’s a great place to live a life.

I've softened my stance on how I view this topic somewhat. I do know people that have had some bad reactions to other vaccinations, and even myself I had some funky outcomes from the Prevnar vaccine (massive leg cramps, blood in urine - scary but didn't last long. Maybe too much detail?).

I get the mRNA hesitancy, given how new the tech is. The Novavax option is a neat one though that might be better for people worried about that aspect. Its unfortunate that our Canadian plant-based on (Medicago) got shut down, thats something I was hoping would take off with more government support.

I don't like the idea of paying even higher taxes than we already pay, but out of respect I'll watch this video for you. I have a couple things I have to finish up here. I'm heading home tomorrow so but I will get to it at some point today I promise. And if you change my mind the next time I'm in BC you owe me a beer lol

Is it shut down? I thought they were investing or had invested at a bunch of money to make this a long-term thing for Canada. Or am I totally off base here but I thought it was that that they were doing. Maybe in Quebec i could be wrong?

Yup, done.  Mitsubishi was the sole investor and they pulled the money out.   The vaccine was grown from a relative of the tobacco plant and that displeased a lot of people.

and on another note...

Cult of self-proclaimed 'Queen of Canada' threatens Sask. village with public executions

An extremist cult leader and her followers have set up camp in a small Saskatchewan village, 83 kilometres northwest of Maple Creek, near the Alberta border. The group has called for public execution of elected officials and other members in and around the community.

Romana Didulo is known as a far-right QAnon conspiracy theorist. She has declared herself the "Queen of Canada," among other titles including the national Indigenous leader.

She has amassed thousands of followers by pushing conspiracy theories and what she calls decrees through social media, particularly Telegram — a messaging app that has grown in popularity with the far right.

Didulo and some of her followers, who call themselves the 'Kingdom of Canada,' have been travelling around the country for some time. On Sept. 13, they were forced out of Kamsack, Sask., by the townspeople.

She is lucky to live in Canada. In many countries around the world she would be arrested and jailed or like one country likes to do; they accidentally fall out of a third story window, their plane crashes or get they get poisoned. In others she would be just hunted down and shot.

I used the CBC.. I think it's fair to say most of you treat it as the gospel. It also quotes the police force. The other link is a partisan website with no proof as to who said what. Also the one MP it mentions they later say her bill never mentioned abortion but I assume most stopped reading by then.

Rook called everyone assholes -2002

Must be true, right?

I don't know what to tell you if you can't see the difference.

1) it's their right as elected officials and it's also the right of their constituents to say you're history for that.

2) "his backbenchers" are elected by their constituents not PP. What kind of parliament do you want? Sounds pretty authoritarian, no?

Good quote from a long time ndper who is pro choice.

David Christopherson is pro-choice and has been an elected New Democrat for three decades. But on Monday night, he simply couldn’t bring himself to vote with the rest of his party on the Canada Summer Jobs attestation, which requires applicants to declare their core mandate respects abortion rights.

“Canadians have a right to disagree with the law, recognizing they will respect it and will honour the law,” he said. “You have the right to say anything you want about a law, and that attestation took that right away. I cannot condone that.”

He is right.  Anyone who would disagree wit this statement simpyl dismisses the rights of every Canadian to have their own opinion about things, their own beliefs and dismisses the validity of being able to criticize a party or a law based on those beliefs.

This is a core tenant of our charter of rights and freedoms and i 100% agree with this individuals statement as well as their right to dissent against the party based on their personal beliefs.
