That’s not the point though is it?

You assume they are card-carrying liberals because of what they post. You didn’t appreciate it when others assume things about you from your posts.

FTR there are two people that post here often and I assume they are bigots from what they post so I too am guilty of putting people in boxes.

To be fair to Ricky I was a liberal party member for a long time. PC before that. I'm not anymore, I have my eye on supporting the Canada Future folks if it turns out that they are not just cpc shills and really want positive changes.

Kind of like what BC did with the crackdown on AirBNB and forcing municipalities to fix zoning issues.

A lack of inventory isn’t a free market. If you have a limited supply of anything prices will ultimately go up. This is economics 101.

A free market is when there are enough goods and services for all and there is fair competition. If 100 people go to a Safeway for apples and there are only 4 apples available, is that considered a free market for apples?  Or would that lead to a bidding war on those apples and thus raise the price considerably on those 4 apples, leaving 96 people high and dry and looking for an apple somewhere else.

You don’t need to impose regulations or price controls in a free market where there is abundance for all. The market takes care of itself as long as there is fair competition.

Cracking down on Airbnb frees up rental inventory for people who need it. Also, people were abusing Airbnb, especially condo owners who weren’t even living in their homes. There should have been a crackdown on Airbnb years ago but it was an easy money maker for alot of people to help them get by in this inflationary period.

Adjusting zoning bylaws also should have happened a long time ago. It would have allowed thousands of new homes into the market. Instead they waited until a home in Vancouver wasn’t affordable for most people.

Now for something actually meaningful. I'm sure it will get the evangelicals in a knot, but this is a great idea.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh confirmed for the first time Friday that New Democrats are pushing the federal government to fund contraception coverage.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying the costs to taxpayers for unwanted children.

yep. Its also good for the economy to put contraception in the hands of women and their physicians with no interference from anyone.

It also will reduce the number of abortions needed, which should please the cons.  Truly something for everyone with this legislation.

Doesn’t matter Jimmy, Ricky has you in a different box.

it won't be supported by the CPC.

I agree, I'm just arguing that supporting it would actually help them more than they'd like to admit.  Nothing makes life more unaffordable than adding another mouth to feed when you're not ready for it as well.

If the Canadian military attempted this, I would expect that kind of result.  It's the equivalent of a UFC fighter telling the loudmouth at the bar that if he takes a swing, he's not going to like the results.
