And socialism does work long term economically? K

I didn't realize we were playing jump to conclusions? Or did you mistake me for your wife, trying to put things in my mouth?😜

Who said anything about socialism?  Certainly wasn't me.  Conservative government, unregulated trickle down economics (what we were talking about) is a disaster though (2008 USA says hi).

Fwiw, I'm a proponent of the healthy mix of capitalism and social spending you'd find in many Nordic countries. High taxation, high quality of life/education/health/infrastructure/transit and a higher "floor" for the less wealthy.

I guess you're right. If only some right wing Northerner could help me find the correct path

I guess you're right. You're an omnipotent American leftist that knows everything there is to know about the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms.

Don't need to know anything about Canada to recognize a right winger. They're usually pretty easy to spot

Don't be sorry. Too many conflate Nordic countries as "socialist". They're not. They're a healthy blend of (regulated) free market (capitalism) and a highly taxed social welfare.

Please elaborate. What did the “cons” deregulate and what did the liberals do to fix it. Obviously we are talking about many layers here. Give me a few specific examples. I just wanna see if you’re full if sh!t

The Liberals tried to "Norway" decades ago. You guys accused them of trying to rip you off and you told them they could freeze in the dark.

No worries.  He clarified his statement.  He said he meant more that it was a mix of capitalism and socialism.

Harper wanted to deregulate banking, just like in the US, before 2008. Thankfully he didn't have the power to do so or we would have been in a similar boat.

That’s not very specific. You wanna go google quick or ask someone that knows what they are talking about?

Good thing it fell through, it would probably be at least .5deg C warmer on average.

Maybe? Or maybe we would have used all the money to create a high speed train network across the country reducing emissions from vehicles and planes?
