If I give you $1 billion and you stand on a street corner handing out $1 per second, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, you would still not have handed out $1 billion after 31 years! Now read on. This is true and rather hard to really understand. The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about whether you want the 'politicians' spending YOUR tax money. A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of its releases. 1. A billion seconds ago, it was 1959. 2. A billion minutes ago, Jesus was alive. 3. A billion hours ago, our ancestors were living in the Stone Age. 4. A billion days ago, no-one walked on the earth on two feet. 5. A billion Dollars ago was only 13 hours and 12 minutes, at the rate our present government is spending it. We spend more on servicing the debt than on Health. We are charged: ·Stamp Duty ·Tobacco Tax ·Corporate Income Tax ·Income Tax ·Council Tax ·Unemployment Tax ·Fishing License Tax ·Petrol/Diesel Tax ·Inheritance Tax (tax on top of tax) ·Alcohol Tax ·G.S.T. ·Property Tax ·Purchase Property Tax ·Tax on Title Searches ·Tax on Building Inspections ·Tax on supplements ·Taxes on various food items ·Taxes on Dining out ·Tax on all utilities – Phone, hydro, water, waste disposal ·Service charge taxes ·Social Security Tax ·Vehicle License / Registration Tax ·Vehicle Sales Tax ·Workers Compensation Tax ·And now Carbon Tax increasing steadily till 2030 AND I’m sure you can think of more...... STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY? Not one of these taxes existed 60 years ago, and our nation was one of the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt. We had the largest middle class in the world. A criminal’s life was uncomfortable. What on earth happened? We can do better The government lost its way but we believed them - elected them, you decide. It is up to each one of us It will get worse unless we all do something. BTW, for real debt by PM as measured by the Financial Institute, have a read through: https://www.fraserinstitute.org/sites/default/files/federal-debt-in-canada-by-prime-ministers-2019.pdf "Justin Trudeau is projected to be the largest debt accumulator among prime ministers who did not fight a world war or experience an economic downturn during their tenure." What was the income tax rate 60 years ago? And if you want to talk billions, let's talk about the record increases in revenue many corporations made, and continue to make, profiting off a pandemic and a war. At least I get something for my taxes. I would like more though.

The government issues a tax and people say nothing as there is always a justification for said tax. Then the following year a new tax, a new justification for it and so on. It continues every year for 60 years. And the people just take it. Then all of a sudden you look back and realize that over the course of the last 60 years we literally have 25 new taxes that we have to pay every year. 60 years later we are $2 trillion in debt, need to pay $40 billion annually just to make the interest payment, and then the government will have a new reason to tax us some more. Rinse and repeat. The cycle will never end until the people make it stop. When the middle class is completely wiped out maybe that will be the time that people start to wake up...

Absolutely, if you ensure PP doesn't win I'll take your share. It's not about "making money" - it's about spreading the profit. If you are making a billion dollar profit a quarter - why increase banking fees? Specially at a time where Canadians have more household debt then ever before? Here's a true story for you. My wife and I have a small farm, we have bred Heritage chickens for the past 12 years. The first 6 years, we shipped eggs right across Canada. Then, shipping costs starting going up and Canada Post would no longer allow us to ship eggs past Manitoba. This year, will be the last we are shipping to Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Why? Because that stupid carbon tax has increased shipping to a point whereby it's more expensive to ship the eggs than what we sell them for. In other words, since Trudeau has been in office, he has cut out 80% of who we can sell to. Small farmers are a dying breed, and food costs are rising because of it. I have lost money every year, all that's been good for is saving a small percentage of income tax I pay. Bottom line is this - corporate greed and bad government has hurt us all. What I don't understand is, given his track record, why would anyone with average (or better) intelligence even consider voting for Trudeau???? (unless of course you run a financial institution or shipping business)

It's an American Facebook list that has been modified for Canada The glory time you mention was when one income supporter a family and we made most of what we sold here ... Union density ( this is a key item ) was at its highest , we had pension plans at many work sites and NO WALMARTS Capitalism is what happened to Canada. Anything that impeded or reduced corporate.pofits was changed , legislated away or sold off. In the depression years.Candians who gave so much during WW1 saw the company take nearly everything and dire poverty. The organized and unionized and after WW2 until business took us back to life similiar to the 30's we saw the great middle class and life in Canada Too bad PP isn't campaigning to bring back the workers good times .....just the.businuess good times 1 1

The Lock
1 minute ago, Elias Pettersson said: Heretic runs a business. Are you suggesting there are banks with zero fees for business owners? The original reply about banking fees was a response to Heretic talking about household debt. Not business debt. Mind you, I'm a little confused as to what's even being talked about at this point since comparing government debt to personal debt is kind of silly as it's closer to business debt if you think about it.
