I would love nothing more than a virtual 4 way tie between the 4 major parties. Give them all about 22% and the remaining 12% between Greens, PPC independents etc. It's what they deserve. 1 1

Good note, and I will add there are 80 MP's who need to stay in office through Oct 20th 2025 in order to qualify: Quote Democratic Institutions Minister Dominic LeBlanc has introduced a suite of changes to the Elections Act. While it includes expanding days for advance voting and an easier process for mail-in ballots, it also moves the current proposed fixed election day from Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, 2025. The extra week aims to move the election away from Diwali, a Hindu religious festival starting on Oct. 20 and lasting several days, as well as municipal elections in Alberta on Oct. 20. That said, the decision to move the federal election a few days later, instead of earlier, is a decision that the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says will cost Canadians as much as $120 million, the estimated lifetime pension if all 80 MPs lose their seats. Not to derail things, but you can bet the farm on Taylor Bacharach making the cut. This is dyed in the wool NDP country and even mediocre reps (like my hometown MLA Jennifer Rice) have to do something pretty egregious to get ousted. Bacharach is well liked in NW BC. (I've met him and can understand why) It would be a huge shock if he isn't re-elected.

It saves Canada money in the long run, as you can see from above, 80 MP's drawing the golden pension due to being voted out would equal about 120 million in pensions, so unless someone has done something egregious, stupid or greedy, I am fine with a high bar being set to replace them. Still though, with regards to the separatists, even though I am more globalist than nationalist, it still erks me that the exact people who would pull apart Canada into even smaller fractions of itself are more than happy to take that pension if they qualify, so for that reason I would call the election early enough to wipe out those 20 pensions and then fight like hell to knock those BQ guys out of their seats. 2
Optimist Prime
Wanted to share this from my socials feeds. I always look at a ten year cycle on my cash situation. if i can save 2,500 in interest this year by prepaying 50 thousand of my mortgage that sounds daunting and without much payoff: BUT if i can save 25,000 a decade by prepaying 50k of my mortgage this year, that is HUGE. Over a twenty year amortization of a mortgage, the interest saved actually makes the full prepayment for me. This coffee meme is on the right track! Still not convinced? Scale to whatever you can afford, the math still works. Five dollars a day prepayed on your mortgage will be $1825 in prepays this year. Over 20 years you will save that 1825 in interest. Repeat every year, with as much a day as scales to your budget, it is free money over time by not paying interest on it. I know 'super geniuses' will say "you can make more by investing it" and yeah you might, but you can also lose the whole investment in a bad market, or a simple mistake. Paying down a cup of coffee a day on your house is about the safest investment you can make. currently it has a 5% return on investment with no risk. We are almost at 40 year mortgages now...won't be long really till that is a thing: if you save whatever you prepay now over 20 years in interest savings; you actually make whatever money you prepay now BACK AGAIN in years 21 thru 40. Boom.

Used to talk to a little Canadian/italian guy; he would always say "If they get a dime from me, and a quarter from you, before you know it, we are talking real money. As a retired guy I appreciate the fact that an $8 a month lower phone bill, with more long distance etc, is not a big amount of money. However, over a year's time, it is $96 -- enough for a really nice meal at a restaurant.

I take back my empties every few weeks, about 15 bucks worth of sparkling water cans and some few wine bottles. I have just tossed the money in a side pocket of my backpack. Half a year in I counted alo the twonies and loonies and had 200 bucks in there. I usually put the quarters and dimes in their tip jar. 400 a year ain't too shabby for keeping recycles out of the trash.
