[Signing] Canucks sign Heinen

Garland makes sense.

Fan favourite now but his value likely won’t be higher.

Use his cap to finish the D and try and get another top 6.

Hell go hard for Necas and finish the D with a player like Boqvist.

Trade Garland for a 3rd.  Trade 2025 first, 3rd from garland and pods for Necas.  It would take at least that.  As for Necas salary, see if we can do a bridge for 3x6m.  He’s coming off a down year.  Can play with Petey till he’s 28 and cash in with the points he’d be getting

Honestly, I think Allvin and Rutherford is set on the forward lines.

DeBrusk is going to play with Petey and Höglander, or Miller and Brock.

Bottom six I think is pretty much set as well.

Heinen - Miller - Boeser

Debrusk - Petey - Höglander

Joshua - Blueger - Garland

PDG - Aman/Suter - Podkolzin/Karlsson?

Defense for now is:

Hughes - Hronek

Soucy - Myers (this is a bad idea to be playing him in a top four role)

Desharnais - Forbort? (this pairing looks really slow)

You forgot Sherwood.  Also, I think the 2nd an 3rd pairing D’s will play equal minutes. With Hughes and Hronek the minute munchers.

I'm wondering if the plan could be for heinen to take Joshua's spot on the 3rd so he can play up the lineup.

I don’t think so. Keeping the 3rd line intact gives us a good line.

Playing Heinen/Debrusk together might give them familiarity while being with Petey.

Him and DeBrusk gives us a lot of options now. I don't watch boston much, does anyone know how much they played together?

Danton Heinen sounds like two people.

Not too much last year Heinen was away from the Bruins for a few seasons before rejoining them this year.

He played up and down the lineup this year.

I like Heinen ,  not really a driver but more an F2 to give and go with .

He is a good skater and , could get better in our programs.

He actually has a really good wrist and snap shot that is underrated.

Saw a lot of him playing with the Sockeyes here ,  I’m sure he and his family are glad to close to home.

Might be a nice fit with Petey/Debrusk.

Definitely could have gotten 750k-1M more in FA if he wanted.

Bit of a bargain signing which is nice.

Ah right. Sherwood. Forgot. Where would he slot in? I’m guessing the 4th line since wouldn’t want to break up that elite third line right. And Sherwood isn’t brought in for the top six.

im not comfortable with the second and third pairings playing equally. I think management needs a legit second pairing.

If Heinen and Debrusk find chemistry with Petey, that'd be great.  Hoglander can then slip back onto the 4th line where he absolutely feasts on the other team's weaker defence units.

Someone also mentioned the idea of putting Petey with Garland and Joshua.

It seems so simple to do but yet I don’t recall any point last season that was done?

I like that idea as well.

Blueger showed he can run his own line defensively. He looked great with anyone they put him with.

A third line of Heinen, Blueger, Sherwood sounds very effective and annoying to play against

If Hoglander can take a step and can replace Suter on Miller’s line then all 4 lines have solid Cs.

Pod-Suter-Sherwood would be a great 4th line. Would be a good line for Pod to establish himself while feasting on weaker lines like Hog did.

It was tried very briefly later in the regular season to mixed results. It’s possible with a longer trial that it could find some success.

personally I think we still need to find one more forward, at the expense of two of Garland, Hoglander, Suter, and Podz.

Suter - Miller - Boeser

Debrusk - Petey - ________
Joshua - Heinen - Garland/Podz

Sherwood - Bleuger - Karlsson

PDG, Aman

Suter and Heinen could be swapped in this roster, or move Heinen to Millers wing Bleuger ti third line and put Aman in 4th. Depends what we need to give up. I still like the idea of packaging and trying to get either Leine from the Jackets or a combo of Necas and Kotkeneimi from Canes.

The D looks no bueno. We have no 3/4 d but it's early days still.

They will not go into the season with that D.

Theres no way they’re not working that problem right now.

If Woo is healthy he will challenge for a spot

Our LD options are definitely less than they were last year. But some decent depth still remains to add on the back end.

I don’t think we’re done just yet.

Probably wait a bit and sign some other talent on a bargain. Suter, Scandella, Shultz, Barrie, Brannstrom, Kylington, Bovquist, Goligoski…all interesting projects or in Suters case savvy vet presence.

I mean… it’s not that bad. But I definitely agree they’re likely looking for more. Especially another puck mover.

I think that's an interesting idea. So basically, elevate Joshua and Garland to the top six, and then put Heinen, Sherwood and Bluegs together. That would be interesting. I'm just wondering whether Joshua can actually play at a top-six rate, as can Garland. They were so effective last season because they played essentially against a weaker opponent in the other team's third lines.

Debrusk Pete Hog

Heinen Miller Brock

Dak Blueger Garland

PDG Suter Sherwood

Pod

I really like our fwd group lots of puck hounds. I can see a guy like Lekkerimaki fitting in this group if he excels in the next year or 2.

My kneejerk reaction was Big Z in my mind was more valuable than Debrusk. But we are here now and I think our FWD group looks like they will be quite aggressive on puck possession.

I think they are in a pretty good position rn. We got Z for relatively little milk spilled.
