42 giveaways while averaging about 15 minutes per game last year 😬

This plus this

Plus Myers getting pushed back into top 4 minutes is concerning

Decent, big physical RD who plays bottom pairing minutes. We've got lots of decent bottom pairing defencemen now and two of the best top pairing defencemen but no really good 2nd pairing guys so will be interesting to see how we line up.

I think Hronek and Hughes will be split to share the wealth and improve these bottom guys.

Or they'll keep playing huge minutes....

Seems like a lot of quantity over quality today... not sure how it will shake out but generally this has been the Jim Benning approach and hasn't worked out super well.

LOL! JB would have signed him for 4 mill and 6 years!!

Gross

zadorov (5)>> myers(3) and this guy (2)

well.....not sure about that because Zadorov would be playing with a league min guy by this math (or on his own lol).

Love this guy's size and nastiness which is needed.....but his minutes will have to be kept down

Always like him.  Another monster for the blue line.  Not many brave souls will stand in front of Demko.

Our smallest bottom 4 defenceman is now Forbort at 6'4" 216lbs.

We can't pay you a mill more but we have 2 mill for this turnover machine.

Myers was a so called turnover machine up until having competent coaching so let’s reserve judgment until we see what Foote and Tocchet can do with this guy. Maybe just maybe Zadorov didn’t want to re sign in Vancouver. Fans needs to get over the fact that just because it’s Vancouver is isn’t an entirely attractive market to play in.

Pretty confident Foote and Gonchar can help him take the next step in his development as a defensive defenceman.

As it stands

Hughes-Hronek

Soucy-Myers

Forbort-Desharnais

Nice size, but I think we are going to get hemmed in a lot. Probably need to split Hughes and Hronek and hope they can get the puck out with possession. Or we need maybe another signing. Someone like Boqvist?

Let's also not forget zadorov bounced around the NHL as a bottom pair defenceman until he came to Vancouver and had guidance from Foote and Gonchar.  We are gonna be a goalie and defenceman factory.

Agreed. We all loved what Zads did in the playoffs but it’s easy for Canuck fans to get lost in the fact we have had next to nothing to cheer about up until this season and Zadorov was a shining light. Reality is he’s good but like you said a fringe top 4-5.

Some big boys back there.

If you're bald, or you're tall chances are you're gonna be a Canuck

Lol ive trusted management so far but do they know we usually only dress 6 defensemen for games?

Looks like we're going for quantity over quality.

Foburt, Juulsen, Desharnais,

Shades of Benning and his bottom 6 signings... Loading up on less talent and leaving big holes unfilled

Wonder if management think they can get more outta the big fella.  He's played just over a season worth of games in the NHL and big guys like him seem to take longer to find their game.

Most intriguing signing for me, looking forward to hopefully watching his game evolve.  Juulsen is going to need to step his game up if he wants to take Myers or Desharnais out of the line up.

Foote and Gonchar will work wonders with his game if recent coaching results are anything to go by. Add in Tic Toc's staples and accountability and I would bet a rather large quantity of beer that come mid season we will be very happy with this signing and the results therein. If he comes close to what I think (and hopefully most here think) will be the end product then this is a good signing. Add in the $3M saved to allow improvement elsewhere then a solid signing.

Of course we will not have Big Zeke version of the 2024 - 2025 team to compare to so I will trust in management.
