SIGNING

The Buffalo Sabres have signed UFA Connor McMichael to a contract.

Term: 6 years

AAV: $4,750,001

Lifestyleir GIF by Lifestyle International Realty

This looks like a 'Price is Right' style of bid with that $1 added at the end

This contract turned into a bidding war that came down to two teams with identical offers at this point we decided we wanted to win this bidding war and upped the offer significantly + $1. I think Connor’s ceiling has yet to be reached and we hope in the back half of the contract when the salary cap is around 100 million having Connor for less than 5 percent of the cap will turn into a bargain for the years that Buffalo aspires to be a contender.

Either very unfortunate to lose all those assets or very lucky to free up all those contract spots.😂

Gonna be a flurry of borderline nhlers not seeing offers yet and take the money in hand deals overseas now, these are just the early birds

IMPORTANT

For all you new GMs please be aware of the unique team morale system that's in place this year. Part of the team morale system is this penalty system. This allows non numerical scenarios to be factored into your overall team morale.

Team morale will be used as a measurement to determine how attractive your club is to other players compared to other clubs. It will bring a realistic element to the league and will affect things such as contract negotiations, trade lists, willingness to waive clauses, etc.

The more penalties you take the lower your morale will be. Taking too many of the penalties listed above can be very detrimental even if your a competitive club.

This is not currently factored into FA talks as last year's data couldn't be used to give a true morale rating for teams currently. Because of this extension talks for players with 1 year term left will be held off until atleast January 1st when it will be justifiable to use the morale system as intended when the true Seeding & penalty levels start to shape up.

There will be a better explanation in the CBA as to how the team morale will be used before the regular season kicks off
