The teams have their own medical staff and access to the best clinics and specialists in the world. The US systemically has a terrible healthcare system but not if you’re rich, if you are rich they truly are world leaders. They just don’t care about the other 99% of the population.

tas
and while we're trashing healthcare systems, let's not forget that canada "leads" the developed world by a wide margin in the number of surgical implements being mistakenly left inside patients after they're sewn back up, so if he had the scope done in toronto they probably would have forgotten to take the damn thing back out.

Not to let Canada off the hook, but part of the reason for the bad comp is that we report these incidents in Canada but other countries don't (https://www.cbc.ca/news/health/surgical-objects-1.5351173). Everything and I mean everything in an operating room is counted in and out before closing. Not one piece of gauze or needle tip can go unaccounted for before the surgeon can close. 2 1

People like to use cihi data to show how "bad" something is but it's that tracking that allows us to measure and improve.

When he had a contract and played he probably complained of pain to his and Stars doctors about pain and found out why When he was was looking to stay in NHL and see TML doctors, he may have been on painkillers and hid the injury pain (even though imaging says otherwise) If that is the case, I am sure we will see him collecting insurance this year at some point (20 games)? One thing I will say. Toronto doesn't know how to make nachos properly. But pasta. OMG.

It was over 30 yrs ago, and I'm sure I didn't go out to interesting restaurants back then. I was super pumped by the giant (3ft by 2ft, perhaps) pizza deal from Pizza Hut. Fed me for a week! I was stuck there on a college internship, Jan thru April one year. Big change from the Vancouver winters I was used to. But a great experience. Sure sucked staying up late for Canuck games though (when they were available over there).

It would have been less disrespectful to just trade the guy rather than strip him of the C. Unless Tavares has some verbal agreement to sign for peanuts on his next deal even with this happening. In any event, Tavares has handcuffed the Leafs for awhile now and I love it.

Which I suppose probably has a lot to do with all his concussions.. but he was finally starting to produce offensively in his career. He hit like a truck, created good space for himself.. He didn't need to fight all the time.. Absolute shit for brains.. The guy suffers a concussion in a fight vs Kyle Clifford in LA first month of the season.. He sits for 3+ months only to come back in the bubble vs Minnesota & immediately drops the gloves and fights Marcus Foligno suffers his final and career ending concussion. It didn't need to end like that. It was no secret he was in concussion trouble when Benning signed him. That’s why his contract was not insured. I’m happy for the guy to cash out like he did after sacrificing his brain to the NhL.

I wish a reporter/journalist with real credibility-like Rick Westhead; would track down all these head injury guys, and see how they are doing. There was a lot of mention of CTE, with the old guard fighters, usually after they died; but nothing about how the younger generation of concussed players are doing.
