Thank you to both @JohnnyEhGiver and @Rick Blight for smooth negotiations in these deals. We are very happy to have completed these deals gives us things that we are looking for. In our deal with Philadelphia we were able to obtain a top prospect from the 2022 draft in Frank Nazar. We covet Frank and see a chance of him wearing a Lightning uniform as early as the end of his collegiate year this season. We are very excited about the tools he can bring, and feel he will be right at home with our young future group. We were also able to add a 2025 1st to our collection of picks which now gives us 2 in 2025. We wish Jordan, Nils, Tye, Justus, Sasha and Cameron all the best in Philly and wish them the best success in their futures

In our deal with Washington we were able to acquire top pairing defenseman in K'Andre Miller. Though having a bit of a down year this season, K'Andre should be our # 1 dman for many years to come. We were also able to bring in Sean Couturier, who granted could still potentially be moved, but we would also be happy to keep as he will be a leader on this young team, and given all he has been through with injuries, he will be a player our youth can look up to about how to overcome and still achieve. Kailer will be a great depth add, as he has looked good this year, though production is low. We wish Jonathan, Evgenii, Tristian and Vincenz the best of luck on their new journeys ahead in Washington

The Washington Capitals want to give our great fans an update on the activities that have taken place since the appointment of Rick Blight as GM less than two weeks ago.

We have made some difficult decisions in the pursuit of achieving our ultimate goal of bringing a Stanley Cup home to Washington. We want to thank the players who served our team well but were traded to bring in the players we deem necessary to achieving our goals. The departing players that helped us in securing a playoff spot include:

  • K'Andre Miller
  • Sean Couturier
  • Antti Raanta
  • Eeli Toivanen
  • Kailer Yamamoto

While it was difficult for us to say goodbye to our friends, we have brought in the players we believe will make us a strong contender for this year's Cup. The pieces added have a proven record of elevating their game to the levels required to be successful in a playoff run. Please join us in welcoming your new Washington Capitals.

  • Adin Hill
  • Jonathan Marchessault
  • Sam Bennett
  • Michael Bunting
  • Evgenii Dadonov
  • Tristan Bertucci (prospect)
  • Vincenz Rohrer (prospect)

In addition to the above, we have freed up an additional $7M in cap space to assist in bringing in more assets for our playoff run. The additional cap space should further benefit us in retaining some of our better players on expiring contracts.

Further updates will be issued as needed.

Philadelphia Flyers roster movement:

Waivers:

.Antti Raanta

IR:

- In a corresponding move Philipp Grubauer will be placed off the IR and onto the Flyers starting lineup.

When Raanta was acquired it was known he would be actively shopped with anticipation of Grubauer’s return and as there has been no interest at this time we have no choice but to clear cap space for Grubauer and his NMC clause. Philadelphia is hoping he doesn’t have to spend long in the minors and may possibly be picked up via waivers to a serious playoff contender to continue his NHL dream. Raanta’s sub .900 save percentage combined with his 3+ gaa this season was the ultimate reason that Raanta found himself as the odd man out. If Raanta fails to be picked up via waivers Philadelphia will still make Raanta easily available to any team looking to acquire his services up to the trade deadline.

Alright after having taken Tage Thompson off the trade block for the past year, he remains unsigned and out of the playoff picture. We'll be happy to listen. Offers should include at least one good playoff piece (preferably a D, preferably IRL Eastern Conference), plus a hefty package of futures. Also keep in mind we're flush to the cap and don't really have any contracts we want to dump, but Trevor van Riemsdyk and/or Pierre Engvall could be added at face value.

With Laine going the Galchenyuk route, and Hart going the Cosby route, time to think about a full blown rebuild.

Panarin - will go to St Louis, Edmonton, or Buffalo

Max Domi

Andrei Kuzmenko

Jaccob Slavin - Arizona, Buffalo, Washington

Jacob Trouba - Pittsburgh, Colorado, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Boston, Los Angeles, Toronto, Buffalo, Anaheim

LAK place claim on Kahkonen. If successful, send Brandon Bussi to minors (no waivers).

If the above claim is unsuccessful, LAK place claim on Sammy Blais. If successful, send Matthew Phillips to minors (no waivers).

These claims all came after the 24 hour deadline (in the OTT case, by one minute 🙃) so they are all unsuccessful.

Thanks to @Theo5789 for the negotiations.

Really happy with how this turned out. I took on Walker and Namestnikov as essentially cap dumps in the offseason, and both the players and their teams heavily exceeded expectations. Happy to turn them into a solid prospect like Tuomaala.

Carolina has another pending trade to go through, and I’m in talks with a few other GMs. Still taking calls on players such as:

- Evander Kane ($3.5M cap hit)

- Chandler Stephenson (*$2.375M)

- Blake Wheeler ($4.5M)

- Alec Martinez ($2.25M)

- Jani Hakanpaa ($1.435M x 3)

- Carson Soucy (*$1.5M)

*Retention available.

Sharks prospect report

Despite being a team willing to sacrifice the future trying to contend in the short-term, we're very pleased with the quality of prospect pool we've kept together.

1. William Eklund LW/C - Our clear cut top prospect, he's played most of the year up with the big club, but cap constraints keep him down with the Barracuda for the time being.

2. Liam Ohgren LW/C - The current SHL leader in corsi (10 game min), we think he's ready for a bottom-six NHL role as soon as he comes over.

3. Logan Mailloux D - Putting up huge numbers in the AHL for a 20 year-old Rooke D. Should be NHL-ready sooner than later.

4. Sasha Chmelevski C - Ready to play center in an NHL team's middle six. Just waiting for him to come over.

5. Aram Minnetian D - Very much a project but we think he'll be a top four puck-moving D someday.

6. Vasili Atanasov (featured) LW/C - Has emerged as one of the top young offensive stars in KHL this year. May still be a few years out, but legit superstar potential.

7. Topias Vilen D - Put up ridiculous numbers in a short ECHL stint, but 11 points in 23 AHL games for a 20 year old rookie D ain't nothing to sneeze at.

8. Vadim Zherenko G - Our top goalie prospect in a pool with a lot of quantity but limited quality.

9. Bryce McConnell-Barker C

10. Noah Laba C

11. Jake Richard RW

12. Joel Nystrom D

13. Ian Mitchell D

14. Jeremy Hanzel D

15. Aaron Pionk D

16. Andre Gasseau C

17. Ethan Haider G

18. Frederik Dichow G

19. Adam Beckman LW

20. Hunter Shepard G
