MatchesMalone Posted October 22, 2023 Share Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) San Jose Sharks prospect update: All of our prospects that are off to the best starts are not our early-round drafted prospects, but the ones we signed undrafted or picked with the very last picks of their drafts. Vasili Atanasov is one of the hottest prospects in the game right now. After 3 points in his last 2 games he's sitting at an even point per game through 21, which had him 5th in the league after yesterday's game. After playing 12-15 minutes per game through the first 5 or 10, he's now regularly playing 16-19 per game. He also sits 9th in the KHL in both shots on goal and takeaways. Maybe the most exciting thing is he's had the chance to move up the Novgorod lineup due to Kovalenko out hurt, but now what happens if he and Kovalenko play together upon the latter's return? Vadim Zherenko has a .934 through two AHL games and Ethan Haider with a stellar 1.3 and .941 through 3 NCAA games. Aaron Pionk has 6 points in his first 5 career NCAA games as a 20 year old freshman defenseman, and Jake Richard with 6 in 6 as a 19 year old freshman winger. WHL over-ager defenseman Jeremy Hanzel has 8 points through his first 5 games this season Sasha Chmelevski is a prospect we inherited from the previous regime, and one of the few leftovers we've held on to with a death grip (along with Thompson, Durzi, Vejmelka). He's having another strong two-way season for Salavat. A little ways back from Atanasov at 17th in league scoring, but he's tied for 7th in goals, and has 10 points in his last 10 games.
