DownUndaCanuck Posted August 13 Share Posted August 13 Signing Tavares was the beginning of the end for the Leafs - they go out and poach a big star and captain of another team and force him into a role he struggled in. Started the top-heavy team they have today and it hasn't ended. He's never been captain of the Leafs really it seems, especially on the ice. Matthews makes sense of course but still, the problem runs a lot deeper than that. They're going to have to make a big move and it really revolves around Marner for a top defenceman/goalie.
