Silovs time to shine again. Wth happened with his rehab that he's still rehabbing since playoffs?  Good thing they didn't force him back then. Geeeeezzz

Food for thought tbh, being bounced against the Oil was a downer but it may end up being for the best that we didn't get deep enough to try and force Demko back in

“Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko isn't expected to be ready for training camp and Vancouver's preseason games in September as he works his way back from a knee injury, sources told The Athletic's Thomas Drance and Rick Dhaliwal.

Though the Canucks hope Demko will be good to go for their regular-season opener on Oct. 9 against the Calgary Flames, his return isn't a sure thing.

Demko hasn't played since Game 1 of Vancouver's first-round clash against the Nashville Predators in April. He played the entirety of the Canucks' 4-2 victory, turning aside 22 of 24 shots, but the club then labeled him as questionable for the remainder of the series.

The Vezina Trophy finalist missed 14 games in the late stages of the regular season with a knee injury, but he started the last two contests before the playoffs.

Demko's latest ailment isn't the same as what sidelined him down the stretch, but it's to the same knee, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.”

remember, back in the old days, when posters were saying "nothing to worry about" ?

I believe that Lalji quote is older but regardless that’s two different injuries to the same knee in a relatively short period of time. Maaaaan I hope he can eventually bounce back. Demko’s given so much to this club he deserves to be part of the success and playoffs. Better not pressure him to return. Rest that man and give Silovs the chance to build up his resume behind a stronger looking club.

It's funny how people give credit to young goalies.

Think about it ...

What more would Silovs need to do to prove himself and earn the confidence of fans.

Two back to back stellar World Championships. Winning the MVP of the World Championships against the best players in the world.

His numbers in that tourney were tracking elite.

And then ...

Being thrust into the NHL playoffs at the highest level of pressure, rising to the occasion, taking his team to Round 2, Game 7 ... and yet people say he's not ready and we shouldn't have confidence in him.

I've posted this clip quite a bit because some seem to think we don't have a decent back up . This is the epitome of a young goalie we should have confidence in.

What more would a young goalie need to do than this clip below ...

Thatcher Demko, Goalie.

A man who's career is hampered by injuries.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we can rebuild him.

We have the technology.

We have the capability to make the world's first bionic goalie.

Better than he was before....

Better, stronger, faster......

Added bonus when he makes a save we hear. Dannnannnnnnaannnnnnaaaaaaaa,,,,,

The return NSH got was underwhelming for Askarov

thst would have been a late first well invested …

Maybe with Askarov and Podz, maybe the return on players isn't as high, and cap space is now king.

nhl history is littered with goalies who came in hot but ultimately had underwhelming careers.  What more can Silovs do? Consistently perform for an extended time.  Right now the sample size is too small to make any judgements either way

Kinda strange how they promoted a bunch of trainers and Clarke stepped back just before all this came out.

Maybe management think the Demko injury was handled poorly?

I also wonder how Demko is feeling through all this. Could he be angry that he got bad advice? It does seem like he was rushed back for playoffs…

Another injury to Demko and the Canucks might have to start contemplating life without Demko.

What an incredibly short peak Demko had.

Yeah it’s too bad. Demko if healthy is a vexina caliber goaltender. But he’s had trouble staying healthy that’s the main issue.

I would say they’ve relied on him too heavily and put winning above his health.

This is why a competent backup is so important. They need to play him around 60% of the games, not the 80% they have in the past.
