[Report] Canucks interested in G Kevin Lankinen

Recommended Posts

Just noticed on the Hockey Feed site (from earlier today?):

Rumor: Former Leafs goalie to come out of retirement for Canucks?

The Leafs somehow find a way to be in on every rumour, and it has nothing to do with Lankinen  🤣

I expect them to move PDG and Aman to get it done.

I think so too.

$1.6M in savings right there.

That’s not how it works. You still have to fill the roster space with that money

We are already $190k under the $88m cap limit with a 23-man roster and without putting Poolman on LTIR.

Putting Poolman on LTIR means we could add another $2.69m without moving out any salary.

Also factor in that if we sign Lankinen, then Silovs probably goes to the AHL once Demko is healthy, which saves another $850k.

You are underestimating Aman.  Speedy, 2-way natural C, good size and can PK.  He will be

lost on waivers for sure.  He has 2 more years on his elc, but has played a lot of Nuck games.

Don’t 2 way players produce some offence?

I hope not, we need to accrue cap space this season for the trade deadline.

We won’t be buyers at the deadline if we don’t have a stable goalie situation so it wouldn’t matter…

I think Devron was just pointing out that moving a couple low paid guys does nothing for cap space.

I mean, we just moved Podz $1,000,000 two year contract and it gave us what?

Now, If Canucks KNOW Demko is going to be on IR for a few months, moving Poolman contract for an NHL level goalie is the best

if they can keep under the cap without using LTIR they actually can accrue Demko's $5Mill cap space (5m/82 games times however many games he is out)

I didnt like Aman for the first half, but started to notice him winning in the face-off alot in the second. I think he is actually going to get better. In alot of ways i think he is a better centre than Suter... and cheaper!

Well, they’re going to have to find a way to get it resolved. We need that trade deadline cap space.
