Canada Life Centre holds only 15,321 seats, yet it's only 20 years old. Yep. They should have thought about that at the start. They should (their fans) also be thinking about selling that building out. They've struggled to go back to pre-covid numbers. Bigger buildings can afford to run at 80-90% attendance, they can't. Also wonder if this is some of the hold back for Quebec City (population). Theirs is 18,239 and am sure they'd pack it too ... for a decade plus anyways, like WNP was doing. At least WNP would be able to get the corporate boxes/money better if they had a bigger one. Didn't think they'd run below sell-out, yet they have. The worse Vancouver had during the JB era, was still close to capacity. Edit: Also think the league should bring in the play-ins. Reduce the regular season by one home game and one away game. That would keep the interest going for teams struggling to get out of their down cycle, or hold onto their playoff aspirations after their peaking is likely done. As well as even things out such as bad injury luck. 50% of the teams making the playoffs is bad for business. Covid sucked, but that part was an innovation. Record books be damned, we've already changed the sport several times in the past (OT, OTW,OTL have destroyed the goalie stats for example). Including more teams would be good for business. Also maybe make the worst teams in the league, play games to see who gets the first, second, third and fourth overall picks. And have the fans pay to watch that.
