I think you've hit the nail on the head there, buddyguy.  Raty will get 1st callup when there's an

injury and Bains will get his chance later on.  Both young players are in a better position to develop

their game, playing big minutes on the top line in Abby.  Both these prospects (especially Raty)

will probably join the team in the new year.

It would be a mistake to lose Aman to the waiver wire.  He is a better player than what many fans think.

Being the 13th player, he will have a lot of time to work on the physical aspect of the game.  He still has

lots of development time at just 24yrs.

Aman made the roster. I think that to send him down the Canucks would have needed to put him on waivers yesterday (Sunday), which did not happen.

The opening day rosters will be posted soon.

I heard someone say that we have around $2M in cap space... but puck pedia is saying under 500k..

Can anyone make it make sense?

Because Demko and Joshua's cap hit count but their roster spot doesn't by being on IR.

When they return the canucks have to send 2 players down to AHL or put on waivers to make room for Demko and Joshua on 23 man roster

When that happens, that would free up 2M in cap space

However that's in theory. Not having any player on IR all season seems unrealistic. 2M in cap space is assuming everyone is healthy.

once joshua and garland are back on the roster we will have about 2.1m in space... until that happens we have about 0.5m

With all this depth, might anticipate Van is offered a deal at some point. Some team(s) will be decimated with injuries, wanting one of our extra fwds.

Wonder if PA might accept a pick(or two), along the path? Could also provide more ammo for a future TDL acquisition.

The July/Aug additions have put mgmt in a strong position. Excellent work.

what are you talking about?
I am talking about why the cap space is what it is.
Garland isn't on IR

Your 2.1 million will come to fruition when Demko and Joshua is back and two minimum wage contract is sent down to AHL

For cap experts out there

Could we waive / send down Poolman and take advantage of 1M cap savings while only counting 1.5M against the cap? Or you can't send down injured players?

poolman isnt on our team.... you cant waive what you dont own

i thought we had 15 forwards still and needed to cut one.

regardless we will be accruing space and we will accrue more with a fully healthy club...

Cut Bains today.  The next cut when Dak is ready is the toughest.
Yes, that is what described earlier.
Day one roster set. Pace for 2.1 ish at deadline.
We need a ticker telling us how much has accrued.  As people get healthier and a F and G go down, starts going up.

think we might send friedman down instead of a forward and keep aman and raty instead.

Another one will be lankinen or silovs

its just math...

  • Total accrued cap space by the trade deadline: $1,818,875
  • Cap space accrues at approximately: $37,119.90 per day after the trade deadline. (with our current lineup)

This is the full calculation and explanation in long form!

Bains needs a little more speed and he will stick.

It's going to be an interesting season.

We need our leaders collectively to not drop off and our depth to take a step forward (Hogs, Garland, Joshua) etc. Up front we are much better than the oilers in terms of depth imho and Colorado and Vegas have taken steps back due to cap.

Defense is my biggest worry. Any of our top 3 go down for any length of time we are in trouble. Sure Myers can play well at times but I worry about Desharnais and Forbort having to "play up". I do hope our magic D coach tandem finds more out of those guys and takes my concern away.

I think we are a one top 4 dman away from being legitimately in the conversation as serious cup contenders (assuming we stay healthy). Someone that pushes myers to the bottom pair will make us very difficult to deal with.

GCG! Can't wait for the season to begin

It will change whenever anyone goes up or down so the number will jump all over the place.  Current pace 2M, perfect world around 8. Probably end up around 4M.
