-over 18,000 cases and over 600 deaths- means about 3.3% of the afflicted die from it.--expert says about 3.5%

12 countries in Africa have cases

and Sweden is the first non african country to get a case- from a person that travelled to africa.

70%  of cases are children

children are twice as likely to die..........

I guess we should maybe put in place vaccine mandates for travel to and from Africa then.  You know, like has been the case travelling to certain places on our planet from time to time for decades prior to Covid.

FREEDUMB CONVOY supporters:  NOOOOO, that takes away our FREEDUMB.

I bet FREEDUMMIES will sneak en masse to clinics for a vax! So they might not look like this poor kid in the picture?     🫣

According to them, the people are protesting Xitter being banned, after it failed to meet Brazilian legal standards and was shut down by the Supreme Court.....but I guess everything Rebel News doesn't like is "socialism"....:picard:

BTW: The protest is being led by recently ousted (and Trump wannabe) Jair Bolsonaro....

Apparently he's also a big fan of Elon Muskovite....

Until recently I thought Elon was a net positive even though EVs are bullshit 'green' unless you live in a place like BC that runs on hydro and not coal. Brake dust still exists... Now he's a thief, an asshole and a hypocrite and getting actually dangerous.

virus trouble in Vermont- horse illness, transferred to humans-resulting in 1 death so far.

People warned to stay indoors during the early evening... and more:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/health/other/another-us-state-urges-people-to-stay-home-due-to-deadly-virus/ss-AA1qasyF?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=e242ef94f6ce4fa5b8cafeeec927d246&ei=21#image=1

"Vermont just became the second state to postpone public events in order to curb the spread of a deadly virus in the state. The Green Mountain state joins neighboring Massachusetts in recommending their citizens stay home at night, amid high reports of Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE)

This rare sickness is carried by horses and spread by mosquitos, and in about 30 percent of human cases, can cause brain swelling, vomiting, seizures and death. In addition to postponing local nighttime festivals and concerts, the Vermont Department of Health 'strongly recommend[s]' people in some of the state's busiest towns stay inside between 6 pm and 6 am, when the bugs are most active.

It's really interesting how many mixed stories there are on this. I don't blame you for coming to that conclusion based on what we hear.

Some counter points though:

Even in Alberta, the highest CO2 emitter per unit of electricity produced in Canada at 990 grams of C02 per KWH, the most efficient EVs beat out the most efficient ICE cars, but only marginally. The most efficient plug-in hybrids perform the best here.

In BC, as you mentioned, the difference is really stark. A Nissan Leaf will emit 2.2 grams of C02 per KM, while a Honda Civic does 149.8 grams/km.

But what about the the increased emissions from EV production? It is true that EVs are more carbon intensive to make than ICE cars. Reuters did a good comparison and showed that with the average US electrical grid (60% fossil fuel, 18.6% nuclear, 21.4% renewable), and including the emissions of power generation, it takes 21,725 km of driving to make up for the increased emissions from production. Even when 60% of that electricity is from fossil fuels. In Norway (similar grid to BC), it takes 13,440 km to break even.

As for breaks, EVs are a winner in that category. Regenerative breaking makes the break pads on EVs last about one third longer than on gasoline cars (at least, recommended break servicing in the owners manuals is about that much longer). Regen breaking doesn't apply the break pads at all, it just runs the electric motor in reverse.

First he got into an online battle with Bernie Sanders over taxing rich people and then he moved to Texas to avoid California taxes...just another rich asshole who wants to be even richer....

Musk, like his fat assed buddy, has almost certainly been these things his adult life, we just know about him now.
I’d never heard of the guy until recently. Same for fat ass. Didn’t know who he was until he ran against “cute” Hillary.

So EV's contribution isn't just about the CO2 from driving them. The mining required to get the materials is a significant increase and legit slavery for the cobalt. 20% of fine particle pollution from vehicles is brake dust while 7% of it is exhaust fumes. Then you have how the power grid is done. In a coal mad area like China or India you haver that to consider. Then you have shipping all that. There I am unsure of a comparison.

Some EV's don't use engine braking aka regen brakes. Porsche for instance figured it was better to coast. I forget the details as to why but it did make sense. Tesla being the top producer currently does. So yes there is braking vs an automatic. Versus a manual where you down shit I am unsure. No one drives or makes manual transmissions anymore..probably the best anti theft feature you can have these days 😉

Mostly I don't buy they are some magic solution or all that much better and frankly with their added weight and such they are a fucking danger...especially that stupid cyber truck.

As I said in another thread my 2023 Honda Rebel 1100 is greener...give me a damn rebate 😄

He's showed signs for sure...but this past few months he's definitely ramped it up. He never invented a damn thing that I am aware of...figured out logistics I am sure but everything he is known for was someone else's idea/company at the beginning.

Yeah, I covered the emissions from production. That includes mining.

You're confusing 'fine particulate matter' for emissions. The vast majority of emissions from a car are not solid particles, they're gasses (CO2, C0, S02, etc).

A car gives off between 4.4 and 7.4 mgs of break dust per km. The Honda Civic from the above example gives off 149 g of C02 per km. That's 25,000 time more mass of emissions in C02 than in fine solid particles from break dust(using 6mg/km as a mid point).

Break dust source: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0269749123008321#:~:text=They give broadly consistent results,10.9 mg/veh.km.

My fam buys me books as gifts sometimes. One of them got me an Elon book.

It sits on the shelf untouched with some of the psychology books my one sister must think I need.

We live in a neighbourhood where people will leave things for free at the end of the driveway. I suggested to my wife we should do that with some of the books.

She said " not the Elon one, what will the neighbours think?"

She doesnt want people to think we read about dorks.
