Love you Alf, but have to disagree. He was good for one to two massive hits a game that would give the other team pause. He also managed to chip in with a few great goals, including going coast to coast.

Big Z chases the game because he’s a dough head. It’s why for his entire career he’s been a 5/6 guy who often sits in the press box as a healthy scratch. He had a decent playoffs. Now, with the Bruins, Z is back to his normal self. But now he’s got a big fat contract to add to the mix. And that’s got him looking fat and slow in addition to his being a dough head.

Well, you are right about him being a 5/6. We’ll see if that new contract goes to his head.

Got fed up w all things Telus this summer and 'cut the cable' so am now reliant on SN and TSN apps for my Canucks and Lions games

 

Sadly, the TSN app is total shite and you can't watch games on demand or pause while watching so I'll be doing the Lions / Stamps game first then watching our boys afterwards... likely several beers into it as well

 

So coach and cheer hard everybody! I'll catch up with ya later

I am sure the veterans would be happy with fewer exhibition games, but how else are the prospects going to show they might be ready for NHL duty? For we old guys, we can remember when training camp lasted a month. In 1962 the Leafs opened their camp on September 7th and their first league game was October 10th. That was 33 days, but in those days, players used training camp to get in shape. There wasn't the emphasis on 12 month fitness that there is now. The Leafs invited to camp in 1962 had to meet a minimum standard: 20 pushups, 20 situps and 30 knee bends. That's it. That was the standard. And they were told to make sure they brought their golf clubs. And they won the Stanley Cup that season, the one before and the one after.
