I know some people joke and say who cares if they get claimed?

But depth matters. You’re gonna  want these guys who can play real NHL minutes when injuries hit. You don’t want guys like Wolanin, Woo and Brisebois playing in your top 6 of you can help it.

The fact that we got all our guys through waivers (Patera claimed back) is awesome. I have a feeling they’ll all play roles at some point even if it’s just an extra body.

I'm hoping we get to a stage where we don't need to rely on tweeners in any position if we get injuries.

Wanting depth is one thing. Relying on them is another.

Every team relies on depth its part of an NHL season.

Not many teams have legit NHLers ready to go on their farms.

If they were legit NHLers they would be claimed on waivers or have solidified their spot on the big club.

Didn't Edmonton just lose Lavoie, and got him back?

Just like we did with Pettera

But unlike Pettera, some other team also put in a claim, so while Edmonton got him back, he's forced to join their NHL roster and must be waived again to send him down.
