Swarm would be interesting, maybe something like the Stingers

Could take it a step further and jump to something like the Hornets

The Salt Lake Murder Hornets.

Worst case scenario. Salt Lake goes from having an ECHL team to winning the Stanley Cup within 5 years because of the abundance of draft capital that the Yotes have.

Hopefully they will eff it up. Otherwise this fanbase will implode.

It's gonna really sting for Coyotes fans going forward if the Salt Lake ownership is actually willing to spend

They're getting a better deal than they would from an expansion team

A boat load of draft picks, a high end prospect pool, a ridiculous amount of cap flexibility, and an NHL roster that looked to be taking steps forward this season

I would not be surprised at all to see them being a good team very soon

So like when the Nords left for Colorado?

Sounds like it's really happening

Sad for the very small amount of Arizona fans left, but very overdue. They tried playing in Phoenix, Glendale, and now in an embarrassingly small 5,000 seat college arena, and still can’t attract enough fans or get enough support to build a new arena. The NHL has been bleeding money keeping them there for years. Time to pull the plug on that welfare franchise.

Shades of the Nordiques move to Colorado

or as another would say,

(Edit - not aiming this at you @The Arrogant Worms - it's aimed more at the idea that Gory Buttman has been bad for Canadian franchises)

I think that Utah is the beehive State, and I recall that the old Salt Lake City baseball team in the Pacific Coast league was called the Bees.

A little too dated, so they might go for something more up to date like the Salt Lake City Swarm.

This was my exact thought. The state flag already looks like a pretty killer hockey tarp - similar to the retro Colorado jerseys.

So Muerello is now a Billionaire slimeball.

This is not Meruelo's first time not paying bills. Don't forget he also got the team temporarily locked out of Gila Arena (before being permanently kicked out) for owing $1.3M in unpaid city taxes. At that point Meruelo had already owned the team for 2 years.

Well at least that would be significantly less of an embarrassment. The Abby Nucks play out of a University rink and it works well for them.

If that was the case couldn't the ownership rename the Roadrunners as the Arizona Coyotes? At least Coyote fans will still get team playing in the same venue.
